seriously though, I live off New Bern and I deal with this shit everyday

they have no problem strolling across the road no matter what time of the day or if there are cars flying at them at 50 mph

its always confused me too. one and a half tons of steel and glass moving at high speed is nothing to be cautious of, but don't you dare expect anyone to hang around when a strange dog wanders nearby or a thunderstorm approaches
its a machismo cultural thing. its actually gotten better over the last decade. black folks in general seem to be doing well <3
