hey guys, my cousin set a full garbage bag on fire in his house kitchen as a prank for his wife and 3 kids, thinking that his wife would find it funny and would put out the fire easily. he left the house, house burned down, his family perished.

he is on death row in angola, and will be executed next week.

For those of you two lazy to read:

1) There was a group of five people. Two guys. Three girls. Janet is one of the girls.
2) They did stupid shit to each other all the time. Including dog poop on the porch, etc.
3) The three girls set a futon on fire in a valentines prank.
4) One fessed up. The other two ran and never said a word to anyone.
5) The one who fessed up got sentenced in a felony murder case to Life without possibility of parole on the basis that the futon set on fire was arson and people tragically died. (Four of them)
6) Similar cases without deaths routinely went to misdemeanor sentencing. One case, same county with a death sentenced to 3-5 for involuntary manslaughter.

So this lady breaks up with her boyfriend a few days before, gets drunk with few friends v-day night, first decides to poor fish oil into the ex's car, decides that's not enough and setting fire to his property would be better.

She heads home gets lighter fluid, sets fire to christmas decorations, decides that's not enough of a flame and proceeds to set fire to the ex's futon. She covers it in lighter fluid, sets it on fire and after the fire gets going she leaves.

She heads back to her apartment and on the way there ditches her lighter and clothes in a dumpster. She watches the glow of the flames from her apartment, hears people screaming and doesn't call for help because she can't find her cell phone. Once she heard sirens she thought it was okay.

Woke up to the news that folks had died, cried a bit and left town to see her parents several towns away. Police come and arrest her at her parent's house find her asleep on her bed.

Her friend's realize how fucked up everything is offer to testify against her. She realizes what she did was wrong and confesses to one of the parents of the victims.

The parent told her he was for capital punishment and asked if she thought what she did deserved it and she said yes. Janet got to court, lied about the confession and apology to the parent and accepted a deal for life.


Since this was a few blocks from where i was living and I saw the fire that night I followed the case. From what was released in the news I think life is a good sentence for her.

The fact that they saw a fire grow wildly out of control and did nothing makes me not care that she is in jail.
