And are you doing anything to "fix" it?
My biggest flaw is the inability to manage money. It's the one thing I hopelessly suck at. My impulse control when it comes to spending is severely lacking.
I've created accounts on those money managing sites and what not. Helps somewhat. What would be awesome is having an accountant.
So, what do YOU suck at? 7/22/2012 9:10:45 PM

social interaction
and this is a very bad thing to suck at
not only because it's important, but because it's really difficult to improve. the only way to improve one's social skills is to talk to people; but when I try to do that, the other person quickly figures out that I suck at social interaction, and either laughs at me or just gets politely away. 7/22/2012 9:17:49 PM

Got to travel soon with a team at work and one of the things we have to do is eat lunch or dinner with management at the center we are examining, I am not good at small talk and it is going to suck. I am usually the quiet one that says something once in awhile.

Ha, yea, that too.
I've started to feel like a Seinfeld character on the relationship level. Even with the most recent lady, I've only gotten to know her in a social setting, and one date, but I'm already zeroing in on what her downfall will be.

I have got to be THE worst, at least within the realm of dudes who are at least reasonably attractive, intelligent, and socially adept. Shit I'll be 33 in 3 months, and unless you count my daughter's mother (which was off and on for a couple of years, and serious in a sense, but utterly miserable just about the entire time and an ordeal I would never had dealt with had it not been for my daughter), I have never had an even moderately serious romantic relationship.
There just are very few women I'm legitimately interested in (due to rarely being satisfied with anything), and thus far, none of them have ever had mutual interest, haha.

Wow. Where do I start?
1. I am a fucking ADD poster child. No hyperactivity, but damn, sit down and talk with me sometime and see how many different directions the conversation goes. And just how unrelated the topic materials, all 100 of them, are. It's a real pain in the ass because it makes follow-through and completion of projects a real challenge. It also means if there are lots of things on my plate, I get overwhelmed easily and can't prioritize enough to get them done in an orderly fashion and in a timely manner.
2. I am one impulsive motherfucker with a love for food and drink, both of which are my ultimate comfort items. When I get down or depressed, which most of you know is frequently, straight to the food and drink I go. And I can blow astounding amounts of moneys on them. If I get overwhelmed, often my first instinct is to go down a couple of beers or good liquor. Other areas of impulsive? Get me a little intoxicated, and I am impulsive enough that I've taken women to bed that I wouldn't remotely be interested in sober. And paid the price when I've tried to backpedal afterwards.
3. I might be damned intelligent, but my social prowess is seriously underdeveloped. It's pretty bad that I feel more at home with women 10 and 15 years my junior, and have been involved with 3 that were 17 years my junior. I feel intimidated by women my own age, or rather inadequate, as I've managed to fuck away a good deal of my life and am socially and emotionally underdeveloped, or as one told me, I'm "emotionally retarded." She's two years older than I am.
4. I'm also extremely self-effacing and critical of myself. 7/23/2012 12:12:58 AM

I'm insecure and uncomfortable around people. As a result, I use the illusion of being an unshockable, unflappable, open book in order to put distance between myself and others. It really hasn't won me any friends because I can be pretty abrupt and inappropriate around people I don't know. But that's ok because I feel like if people really knew me they wouldn't like me anyway, so if they don't like this over-the-top me that I present that's ok because it doesn't hurt me since that isn't the real me.
My closest friends are those who took the time to really talk to me and get to know me. As I've gotten older, I've learned to tone some of the crap down and allow people to see my vulnerability. However, It's still hard for me around new people and it probably always will be. That's why I have trouble making friends and the friends that I do have are precious. 7/23/2012 9:31:10 AM

This is almost identical to that shittiest of canned interview question, "What's your biggest weakness?"
Clearly it's that I'm too driven and too committed to my job.
In all seriousness though, it's probably that I find fault with everyone. Much like Daniel Plainview I see the worst in people. It's crippling from a relationship standpoint and it even makes it almost painful for me to interact with anyone outside of a very, very select few. I get so fed up with people so fast that I often avoid gatherings or people in groups. 7/23/2012 12:52:52 PM

my biggest problem for probably the last 10 years of my life is that i think i can be friends with everybody and i just need to let it go and be OK with the fact that not everyone gets along. this is especially problematic at work when someone i think is a friend does something incredibly stupid and i don't really know how to react. so i do a lot of ignoring. and that never helps. 7/23/2012 2:39:24 PM
