I didn't really look hard to see if this was anywhere...but thought it interesting (and creepy) to note since many of us have been to ASU in our lives:

"Lewis described many unusual aspects of the home, including multiple rooms containing only a bed and whole walls dedicated for use of a projector mounted in the ceiling. She said there was a room containing a massage table and “tons of medical books,” as well as a bizarre shower.

“There was a humongous shower in it. It had shower heads on both sides but it looked like you could fit ten people in it. It was weird. It looked like a communal shower,” said Lewis.

She also went on to describe a strange room with several mattresses placed on risers all around the room. “I was like, ‘Okay this is like a big giant orgy room or something.’”"

Interesting.

I had a friend that lived in one of the highest houses on Howard's Knob, we went to the old fire tower all the time. I wasn't aware of this house though.

we used to call it the Vampire House when we lived up there. it was really fun to make up stories about it to tell friends who were visiting from out of town

I wish there was more factual stuff and less anecdotes.

They could have included who built the house or designed it. It wasn't the App State professor, right? If it was built in 1990, it wasn't his to begin with. Some architect had to have design it. Some contractor had to have built the 'sex rooms.'

Wait... Is this the Sex Cauldron place Krusty was talking about?

How is the electric still on to run the elevator if it has been vacant for all these years?

I swear there was an Asian family who lived there in 2008, but maybe they were just squatters

there used to always be a Subaru in the driveway and we'd occasionally see an Asian dude in the front

just got a text from the sweetest, most adorable girl ever who still lives up there and she says they broke in there recently, haha

This, folks, is why you hire a legitimate architect and not just some kid that went to tech school . It's not just in disrepair because of vandalism; a number of apparent problems are as a result of it being designed and constructed poorly in the first place.

After reading the article my question was: Why bother fixing a roof and removing mold in an abandoned house? My guess is that the electric and repairs were made while either the feds or the bank were still trying to sell the thing.

Yeah, Wake County property records go way back, but I can't find anything about this house before January 2000 on the Wautauga Cty. website...

http://www.wataugacounty.org/ias/Datalets/Datalet.aspx?mode=sales&sIndex=0&idx=1&card=3&item=2&State=1|1|2|&items=2

I don't really know what I'm doing so somebody sleuth for me! I wanna know who built it.

Pretty easy to get there. Go up Howards Knob. It's almost at the top on the right. The end.

It's a truly hideous house. I had no idea it was creepy, though.

LOL I was at that house last year. My friends and I drove up there to take pictures off the back porch and i ended up getting stuck in the snow covered driveway

I had no idea it was a cult house though. Just thought it was another victim of the shitty real-estate market

It looked more like a place that belonged to a person that had just recently been introduced to a large amount of money, without ever having had a lot before. there was a thread on here not too long ago about a similar type place in or near Raleigh but that one wasn't in a state of rot.

Interestingly if you go in there you can find building instructions written on the walls in spots, like they would write "build a door on this wall 36 inches from here" instead of having a set of drawings.

Oh and no ones "breaking in" there at this point, there are very few windows left and the glass doors are unlocked.

Has anyone done an urban exploration of this place with photos? I have to believe someone has covered this house if not on here then on another message board.

If not and someone wants to do a halloweenish favor for tww, do a good urban ex of the place.

the article describes the creepy rooms and the attached photo gallery has interior pictures but none of them line up with the creepy room descriptions
