Went to this place for dinner last night since it had really high reviews. Paid 20 bucks for an entree that would be called an appetizer anywhere else. It was okay, but not great, and certainly not worth the money.

Are the portion sizes typically on the small side and does the average patron have the appetite of a 9 year old girl, or did I just pick the wrong menu item? Did my unrefined palate prevent me from enjoying the meal?

Should have just gotten the fucking mac & cheese.

FYI, I got the flounder with butter beans, corn, and lobster. Pretty bland, salty, and like I said, the amount of food was ridiculously small. My girlfriend just laughed and said, "You got gypped" when the food came.

So what was I paying for? Atmosphere? Nope. Service? Dear god. Certainly not the food. My mind is blown, someone explain, or at least call me a pleb that unknowingly wandered into an upscale establishment.

I find the portion size there completely depends on what you order and price doesn't seem to have any factor in portion size. Hell, their mac and cheese side is enough to be a whole meal on its own.

The first two years i went I thought the food was pretty good. The last time I went, maybe two months ago, was the first less than stellar* experience I've had.

Also the word is gypped.

*still better than most places downtown

Nah, this can't even compare to, say, Chuck's or Beasley's. At those places, you can get a shitload of food for 15 bucks, and it's awesome food.

Agreed. I think their quality is lower than what it used to be. I feel like that happens a lot when you have the owner start opening multiple ventures. I also think I like their brunch more than dinner as a general rule.

Not sure if its a pricing thing, but the fish portions there have always been a tad small in my opinion.

The bread/butter/fleur de sel is the best deal on the menu @ $3

The mac and cheese is a huge portion. The Open faced brioche burger is always huge. I guess it just depends on what you order.

We will often go and get a salad, 2 or 3 sides, and split an entree and get out of there for $50 with a glass of wine, or 2 cheap beers each.

The mac and cheese is big enough for an entree and fucking delicious

Enoteca Vin made the best Bloody Mary's in town. My god, they were delicious. The ones at Poole's just aren't the same.
