I took it back in 2003. It was required for us then... is it no longer required? I still use Maple every now and then for doing complex integration and stuff.

Its a prereq math class... Take the normal one because it will be way easier to cheat

If you take it, buy MathCAD http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Mathcad-Engineering-Science-Edition/dp/012374783X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344548052&sr=8-1&keywords=mathcad (This book comes with a CD of MathCAD 14) or use MathCAD via VCL.

it's more heavy on the Maple worksheets and stuff. If you are self-motivated with a good sense of spacial reasoning, it's much easier. If you're a procrastinator and the type to rely on formulas to tell your right from left, they you will hate it.

The prof that runs it is nice and will offer extensions EVERY time there is a network outage anywhere on campus.
