How many folks have told me no way this would happen?

Obama has said it himself more than once...

I wonder what changed his mind?

Probably the fact that he would get smashed in the election unless he can tack his name on to someone a little more popular (like McCain did to Palin).

I don't think there will be any "smashing" one way or the other, but at least maybe this would make Democrats shut the fuck up about how much of a landslide it's going to be against the retarded field of Republicans.

Replacing Biden would be some pretty serious measures if they truly believed it was going to be such a one-sided contest.

Romney is simply polling too high and Ryan was obviously a popular choice, period.

I think it's going to upset some Obamanians to accept the fact that they will need help to win an election without his awesome impotence omnipotence.

I still don't think it's actually going to happen.

Hillary has her own aspirations and they don't involve staying on a sinking ship.

But who knows? The great orator can pull off many things!

Maybe they will concoct some story about how Biden has early-onset Alzheimer's and he's stepping aside to make way for Hillary "with great regret?"

Army suicides doubled last month from June's total

WASHINGTON (AP) — Suicides among active-duty soldiers in July more than doubled from June, accelerating a trend throughout the military this year that has prompted Pentagon leaders to redouble efforts to solve a puzzling problem.

The Army, which is the only branch of the military that issues monthly press statements on suicides, said 26 active-duty soldiers killed themselves in July, compared to 12 in June. The July total was the highest for any month since the Army began keeping such statistics, according to Lt. Col. Lisa Garcia, an Army spokeswoman.

The government is obviously listening.... not.

^^^ It's impossible to know whether that's relevant or not until we know the suicide rate of civilians in that age bracket. Is 24 suicides out of 560,000+ soldiers a startlingly high number? I have no idea. And with such a low sample size it's vulnerable to outlier months, which last month was likely to be if it was the highest ever.

Edit: Looks like US suicide rate for 15-24 year olds is around 14. If we extrapolate that to the military numbers, multiply the monthly total by 12 and divide by 5.6 (to get to yearly rate per 100,000) then that would correspond to a rate of 51.4 which is quite high.

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_sui_rat_in_age_15_24-suicide-rates-ages-15-24

However "American males between the ages of 20 and 24 have a suicide rate that is seven times higher than that of women" and males in the army are highly overrepresented. Also that this month could be a statistically insignificant outlier.

^not only that, but it's impossible to know what the suicide rate of soldiers in July has to do with an Obama/Clinton ticket.... oh, it's geniusboy, nevermind.

The downfall of the typical liberal is the fact that they think they are more intelligent than conservatives yet thrive on snarky remarks such as this (and nothing else).

So talking points aside, the Clintons are in no way comparable to Obama; they in fact despise and distance themselves from him. That's because they are actually intelligent politicians.

You adore Obama simply because he "bats for your team" and is currently "the only choice."

So don't pretend that he's actually capable at his job. It's insulting to your party, and in this context it's insulting to the Clintons.

Conservatives that "hated" Clinton during his reign were similarly stupid then like you are not. It was not hard to recognize then, and it's especially not hard to recognize now that Clinton was a fine president.

I'm also not advocating that Romney or any of the republican choices were worth a damn. Quite the opposite really, but people like you do nothing but further the "us versus them" bullshit that is reducing this country to a parody of itself.

You better go now and watch the Colbert Report so you can keep telling yourself you're clever.

The downfall of the typical conservative is that they're incapable of changing their old views when presented with new facts.

I mean, congratulations on your textbook definition of a conservative.

It doesn't exactly apply to all of them, just like every liberal isn't some pinko commie.

Your worldview is extremely small and disappointing.

I mean, conservatives are bad at accepting new ideas. Liberals are bad at detaching their emotions from the decision-making process. I totally admit this, but I also try to account for it by being aware of it. I work entirely within a framework of realism and my policy positions reflect that. I don't side with Democrats all the time. If a Republican has a good idea, I would totally support it. You are more incapable of detaching yourself from your more favorite party than I am. Perhaps you should perform a reality check on yourself.

Although I'm also not entirely convinced that you're not just trolling.

When the credibility of the poster is nil then the content of the post is irrelevant.

You apply the exact same formula to Geniusboy.

I accept your notion that I've done this to you in the past, however I don't believe I have tonight (in any of the threads we've participated in).

Your only idea this evening was "Conservatives are different than Liberals."

Which I agree with, so no need to abash anything.
