It really depends on the cook though. I used to work at Pizza Hut and I could make a pizza hut pizza taste so good that I had a following of people that wouldn't let anyone cook their pizza except for me.

It had less to do with over-portioning than getting the proportions exactly right. For instance, if you taste a few grains of salt, it tastes great! However, if you eat a spoonful of salt, it tastes disgusting.
The same can be said about overloading your pizza with too many toppings. Too much meat will make your pizza too salty and oily. Too many vegetables will make your pizza too wet. Too much cheese will make your pizza taste like cardboard.

Yes, there are people that will say "there is never enough meat, cheese, or vegetables on my pizza" and it's true for them.

Not to brag, but I make a pretty killer pizza in my cast iron pans.

Trader Joe's dough, warmed to room temp, spread out onto a cold 12" cast iron pan, pick-your-sauce, whatever ingredients, mozzarella, asiago, parmesan cheeses, high heat on the burner for about 4 minutes, then in the 425 oven for about 15-18 minutes.

I basically take king aurthers flour, water salt and sugar; mix, rest and kneed with the kitchenaid. let it rise and punch it down for as long as we stand. spread it out on parchment paper load up with sauce and toppings and bake on a pizza stone at 500 for about 12 - 14 min.
