say you're given the opportunity to get in a shuttle and never come back. the shuttle is guaranteed to not fail, has large windows and enough food and fuel to outlive you. you can take any form of media that exists when you leave, and have storage space for whatever you want to take (but you know, you have to be able to name it, you can't take "all of the books", for instance). you're not going to die of any weird space disease or anything, just live the rest of your life floating around in space by yourself, checking out the stars and reading.

Absolutely not. Even traveling twice the speed of light would take something like 20 years to get to the nearest star that isn't the sun. And even then, when you get there, oh cool you get to see a star up close but then what? Another 30 years to see something else? Space is way larger and more spread out than the human mind can begin to comprehend.
