I can't wait to test this out this weekend. Probably a very similar experience to Onlive, which I like very much.

i think it would be cool if they added plugins cause i bet you could make a nice media library plugin for it.

Just looks like an improved GUI for a tv/controller

It would be impossible to launch games or do anything else with a game controller before this.

I know how to do this myself, but I'd like to see them build it in natively...

How about allowing me to use the gaming computer in my office over the network for viewing on the HTPC attached to my 55"; including allowing the controller to be plugged into my HTPC but pushing commands back to the gaming computer (of course).

Now that would be nice.

After reading a couple articles I still don't know what this is.

You go computer-to-TV over HDMI and then...use Steam? Er, but with a different interface?

I am entirely confused as to what exactly is new.

This is the beginning of Valve moving towards a TV set-top gaming distribution service.

They are betting that "console" gaming and "pc" gaming can be merged into a "Steam" experience. So you can play with a controller + 10ft experience with a HTPC, or with keyboard/mouse + 3ft experience with your desktop.

This is what I get out of it.

What's hard to understand about it? It's a new GUI that you can use with a controller so you don't have to bring a mouse and keyboard into the living room with you.

I just launch my Steam games through XBMC. Much more fluid. This is a cool idea though.

^^ Ah.

I just had no idea there was a desire for that (I use a monitor, not the TV), and this kinda seemed like a bigger product launch than a mere GUI, that's all.
