I'm looking for a specialty cake bakery in the Raleigh/Cary area. Premium wedding cake quality (except this isn't for a wedding cake)...no sheet cakes or grocery-store type cakes. Any suggestions?

For anyone who's familiar with Maxie B's in Greensboro, I'm looking for something equivalent in the Raleigh area.

Edible Arts is one that my former employer used to use for a lot of special events. Their stuff was good and they were good about working with almost any budget we had.

Seriously just do a search for cake bakery on Google maps and you'll find a crapload of options.

Also I feel like there's a tdubber on here who owns a specialty bakery in the area but I can't remember who.

I can recommend Once in a blue moon in Cary. I've always been happy with their cakes.

i have a friend from highschool whose company is based out of Wendell/Zebulon but she will deliver to Raleigh, and she has done some seriously amazing cakes for me. it helps that her cakes taste like Heaven on a fork. if you're interested in a few pictures of her work and her FB info, send me a PM.

I recommened Simply Cakes. They did my wedding cake, as well as a second small round cake as an anniversary cake. Both were delicious and gorgeous.

No personal experience, but some of the cakes on display at Sugarland in Cameron Village are really nice looking. I can vouch for the tastiness of their smaller offers.
