I am looking at training for EMT basic training.

http://ems.waketech.edu/PDFs/EMTB_Course_Details.pdf

I found wake tech's site. All of their courses are set and going for the year, ncsu pushes to wake tech. Is anyone aware of other places that offer EMT basic training? Really want to get trained.

google is less than helpful thanks!

Most of the community colleges have at least some EMS training, the following colleges offer EMS3000 and EMS3025/3031 that might be driving distance.

Alamance CC
Durham Tech
Fayetteville Tech
Johnston CC
Lenoir CC
Nash CC
Pitt CC
Wilson CC
Wayne CC

It depends what you are looking for, a lot of the community colleges them do them during the semester but there are some for profit training ones that only take a couple weeks. If you are looking to get involved with EMS, I'd take one at a community college where you are more likely to get instructors that are from EMS agencies in the area and can help you get on with an agency or whatever. The slower community college route also exposes you to a lot more people and experience that you probably won't get at the quick certification mills. The quick ones tend to be for people applying for a job or promotion and just need that box checked for EMT certified.

If you aren't looking to make a career change and are more doing it out of curiosity, pick up the textbook and wait a couple months and take it at Wake Tech or something. The material is not difficult but I thought it was definitely worthwhile. I did it as night school at Wake Tech if you have any questions.
