Saw a father get his card denied a weeks worth of groceries at Dollar Tree. Damn sad and humiliating for he and his family (wife and son with him). Hearing him turn to his wife and say "gotta put the food back" and seeing him pulling the bags out with the cashier telling him that she "needs the bags back too" was heartbreaking.
My Ice Cream sandwich was good as fuck tho and only cost $1. 11/2/2012 8:14:22 PM

^^Yes, and in my opinion, it's more expensive than the grocery store. It bugs me to see folks walking out of a dollar store with groceries if there's a real grocery store nearby. They're almost as bad as drug stores/convenience stores.
Another thing that bugs me: people who buy the four-pack of toilet paper. I know folks don't necessarily have a lot of cash to go around economizing...but, if they could put back the 12-pack of sodas just one time, they could afford the big pack of toilet paper, save six to eight bucks overall, not have to buy TP again as quickly, and BONUS, their body will appreciate the water instead of soda for a few days.
There are so many other things like this that get me. I wish I could grocery shop for people.

^^ First time actually. I was not impressed. I was waiting for a pizza to be done and had just stepped out of Game Stop. 11/3/2012 1:29:29 AM

FTR at some places, the lowest unit price actually is on the smaller packages, like at my local Wal-Mart, the two packages with the lowest unit cost are this 6-pack of regular-size rolls for 97¢ that rarely stays in stock and this 4-pack of regular-size rolls for 86¢, because the bigger sizes aren't store-brands. [Edited on November 3, 2012 at 1:34 AM. Reason : ok there is this mega-pack that's around there in unit cost but it's like the equivalent of 48 rolls] 11/3/2012 1:33:29 AM

I have zero sympathy for poor Americans after seeing how hard working and industrious Chinese poor people are living on $300 a month. They take care of their kids and old people and everything. I just wish Chinese people had a little more class. they smoke and spit and cut in line. 11/3/2012 8:58:06 AM

$300 also goes much farther in China than it does in America. They also have public transportation where a car isn't necessary, and they are much closer with their families than most Americans are and will rely on each other far more. I've seen Chinese beggers, people who will rip you off at a moment's notice and thievery. To compare the two is completely disingenuous. Watch as China's yuan gets stronger and the price of necessities increases how the income of the poor will remain stagnant, causing them to struggle to make ends meet and fall into a similar situation in America. 11/3/2012 9:58:20 AM

Dollar Tree groceries are not more expensive than grocery stores. they have a lot of knockoff brands that are a dollar for an item that is $3-4 at a grocery store. You are probably thinking of Dollar General, which isn't all that cheap 11/3/2012 10:38:04 AM

A government program funded by tax payer money that requires recipients to meet certain criteria to be enrolled in the program.
When taxes are a charity, then you'll have a point. But it is a fee that I pay to live in this country. What they do with it, I have little control over. 11/3/2012 1:01:11 PM
