Nationwide College Campus Pilot Group

* Better Focus * No Crashing * Higher GPA’s * More Energy * Excel in Sports * Better Concentration * Total Hydration * Brain Food *

We are looking for 10 NC State College Students to participate in a pilot group for an all natural, “Think Drink” that will energize you for hours. Participants will be provided the energy drink with alkaline water for 30 days to test for energy, concentration, mood, and focus to determine how it impacts the student’s academic/sports performance, grades, and overall well being. The product is WADA compliant and is an all natural “cognitive brain food” that doesn’t contain the high levels of caffeine, sugar, or artificial sweeteners that are found in other energy and power drinks. It supports optimal brain performance. Participants may earn monies for books and tuition. Participants must complete a brief questionnaire and write a paragraph on why they think they would be a good candidate for the study. If you are interested, please respond with your contact information by Monday, November 12th, to: michelesaar@gmail.com and include ENERGY THINK DRINK PILOT GROUP in your subject line.

I realize this thread is about Think Drink, which I have not tried. Hear me out, maybe I can offer some insight.

I am in outside sales, which is currently salary+commission, but will move into straight commission starting at the beginning of July 2010. I have been in this position since July 2009. I have competition from several direct manufacturing sales reps, large distributors, and local distributors. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each:

Direct Advantages: Immediate knowledge of new technology, no middle man mark up, one shipping bill (paid by manufacturer or buyer of goods), access to larger range of non-commodity items, control inventory, have access to many distributors that can effectively sell their goods which increases market share, and set prices of commodity they manufacture.

Direct disadvantages: Typically have 1-3 sales reps per region (i.e. southeast, mid-atlantic, northeast, etc.) limiting the number of accounts they can successfully manage/cold-call, lack physical customer service or physical technical service available to or affordable for smaller users or altogether, are sometimes not trustworthy because they will go in behind their distributors that sell their commodity to one account in large quantities (i.e. they missed a big account, and have found out about it through a distributor selling their particular product) which leads to the distributor not selling their product anymore, have too many distributors selling the product ultimately driving the set price down through deviations, possibly rely on distributors to actually sell the product, and competition from other direct sources.

Large distributor advantages: have access to other commodities that go hand in hand with other manufacturers (poor example- grocery stores sell milk as well as cereal), get direct pricing, many locations regionally or nationally easing the shipping burden of buyers with multiple locations, personal service either customer or technical, many sales reps that are able to cover a broader territory, access to multiple manufacturers of the same commodity allowing to keep prices in check, service programs that smaller companies can't offer and direct providers can't match in price or value, and experts of many many commodities as opposed to one or a few.

Large distributor disadvantages: smaller local distributors creating price wars (think Michael Scott Paper Co vs Dunder-Mifflin), direct mfg's going in behind and stealing business, limited access to all of the mfg's (you won't find Harris Teeter name brands in Food Lion and visa versa), can't truly set prices because it's based on both supply and demand, territory management, and tough growth prospects in slower economies (this is true for direct as well really)

Local distributor advantages: Typically a good ol' boy setting where the seller and the buyer know each other for years (this does happen at all levels, but mostly at the local level), local folks are right down the street and can be used in emergencies, if the local guy buys at high enough volumes then there is no shipping charge to the end user, and access to both direct mfg's and large distributors.

Local distributor disadvantages: easily beaten in price, array of commodities, array of technology, lack of trained staff, low cash flow, etc etc etc.

This is what I have noticed in my six months, I am sure there are plenty more that need mentioning. The way I am setting myself apart as a sales person is this: I go after the big accounts right now while I am new. The big accounts, if I land them, will take care of me while I am new and building a customer base. The money made off of those allows me to focus free time on smaller accounts that get me higher margins. I build up big accounts, I would like to have 5-10 of these, then get 20-30 medium accounts. If I lose 1 or 2 big accounts, the 20-30 medium accounts keep me afloat while I go after new big accounts. I don't really waste time on small accounts simply because they basically pay for breakfast or something really small.

I will say this, if you can't get a big account in the first 6-8 months (assuming you have cash flow that you can ride this long) you could be in a world of trouble. If you can get one, it will really make going after the others a lot more enjoyable and less stressful. It's simply just very exhausting wasting any time on anything other than big accounts in the very beginning. You work just as hard on the medium sized accounts and see 1/3 to 1/36 of the money in my situation.

If you have any other questions, you can PM me. I hope this helps in the slightest!

Dear Terry,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. NASA Langley Research Center, is a field center of the government agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA does not endorse commercial products. This claim is being forwarded to our legal staff for investigation.

Comments: Hello

I hope you can help me with my research. Xooma are invoking the prestige of NASA to support what I think are highly dubious claims about their products. Here is a quote:

ORP Testing:
Xooma X2O has also been tested by an independent laboratory located in the NASA Langley Research Center. "

"Transform your water with Sango Coral Calcium (from Okinawa, Japan) X2O sachets. Okinawans live an average of 95 years--drink what they drink, for less than what you pay for bottled water. What kind of water do you drink now? Bottled water IS TAP WATER with over 650 known contaminants. Read on!
A British journalist from the Guinness Book of Records was on assignment to interview Shigechiyo Izumi,
the world's oldest documented living person, a sprightly 115-year-old
man in remarkably good health. The journalist was amazed by Izumi's vitality and the fact that he had worked until the age of 105. When the journalist realized most of the island's inhabitants were physically fit, with long lifespan and low incidences of serious illness, he persuaded Mr. Izumi to submit to a medical check up. These islands were built up from Sango coral reefs that are chemically very similar to the human skeleton. When rain falls on these islands, it percolates through these ancient coral deposits and picks up minerals and other elements that make it truly unique, Not only does it contain many essential minerals, it is also very alkaline, with a pH between 7 and 8.5.

XOOMA X2O surpasses this level of alkalinity using a very special patented process with Argon inert gas and silver. The pH is therefore brought to a 9.9 level.

XOOMA X2O is the only product on the market that contains coral calcium and that goes through such patented purifying process to remove salt and harmful heavy metals like mercury. This patented process also includes the only Japanese government approved collection method that carefully vacuums the coral semi-fossils from the ocean floor without harming the ecosystem. Over a decade ago, the health conscious Japanese government authorized the mining of this Sango coral sand. Sango coral is the only coral out of 2,500 species found to have these health benefits, and only occurs in abundance around Okinawa, Japan. Over four million Japanese consume coral calcium daily. The mining operation, careful not to damage any of the living coral, extracts, pulverizes and treats this Sango coral sand, enriched with coral calcium, magnesium, valuable minerals and trace minerals of the sea. The coral is then placed into capsules. When taken, the coral calcium will raise the body's pH level to a healthy alkaline state. In other parts of the world, cultures such as the Hunza's of North Pakistan, the Tibetans, Armenians, Azerbajans and the Titicacas of Peru, all live long and healthy lives. The common denominator is calcium consumption. The only source of water for all these cultures is melting glacier water. The water is turbid, white like milk, as it contains the crushed rocks that were contained in the glacial ice.

WHY YOU NEED IT:
Coral Calcium is CRITICAL to good health. It's like water and air. You must have all three every day! Calcium is involved in literally 100s of critical body functions daily. Without the proper amount of calcium in our bodies, we simply cannot be healthy. If you suffer from any of these life-threatening diseases, Coral Calcium may be the answer you've been searching for.

Diabetes * Arthritis * Osteoporosis * Eczema * Fibromyalgia * Muscle Cramps * Kidney Stones * Gallstones * Gout * Indigestion * Chronic Fatigue * Lupus * Hiatal Hernia * Headaches *
and many, many more.

Thousands of people around the world are finding real relief from over 200 different diseases linked to Calcium Deficiency. Many people who have had these conditions are now living pain-free, happy lives.

Calcium is essential for human life. Apart from being a major constituent in bones and teeth, calcium is crucial for nerve conduction, muscle contraction, heartbeat, blood coagulation, the production of energy and maintenance of immune function. Severe calcium deficiency may lead to abnormal heartbeat, dementia, muscle spasm and convulsions.

Why you need coral minerals. . . .

Minerals make up the basic foundation of health. Our soils have become depleted of minerals ... thus, our foods and our bodies have become mineral deficient. Coral naturally contains every mineral found in the body and unlike most mineral supplements, coral minerals are easily absorbed and really work.

X2O sachets with coral calcium are portable and affordable. You can find them on my website @ http://www.xoomaworldwide.com/globalx2o
For more information or help placing an order, call me.
In Good Health,
Michele"

yeah, they should be playing up the real drugs in their drink. and should probably write "this may affect your blood pressure if you're taking medication for a related condition" in the blurb about Siberian Ginseng instead of some anecdote about russkies.
