When are these Dannies holding a BBQ and what are they celebrating?

Are people named Danny the only people allowed to attend?

It's decent, but not nearly as good as Olde Time, Q-Shack or The Pit (THE BEST).

If you're gonna spend the money, you might as well get the best BBQ for your dollar.

what kind of name is "Danny" anyway

^you forgot Dickies, it is far and away no Dickies BBQ

I prefer Smithfield's over Danny's. But Smokies (or Rubs or whatever) is the best.

Danny's isn't bad, but its definitely overrated. Waaay too much SC influence to their barbecue.

Smokey's is not the best, it's terrible. All of the Tennessee stuff on the wall should be your immediate clue they don't know about barbecue. The only thing that isn't terrible there is their ribs. (I actually like their ribs)

If I'm in RTP though and want barbecue, I'm probably heading to Backyard BBQ Pit.

What they think about it? for example:

"They have really good sides"
"Don't get the blahblahblah"
"I went there one time and blah blah blah"

Saying "Q-shack is better" means literally nothing to someone who hasns't been to q-shack. Besides I'm only asking because there is one nearby a new work site. I mean I guess "not as good as blah" is valid but not particularly helpful.

I'd rather hear "It sucks" so I can not go there rather than "its not as good as my favorite BBQ place". How could that possibly help me?

My boss always went to Danny's, so I finally decided to give it a try since he raved about it all the time. I thought it was nothing special. It's hard to even give an opinion because it was just so blah. The barbecue was blah, the sides were blah.

Of course asking anyone about barbecue in NC is not much different than starting a riot.

Yes, Smokey's is fucking awful. The one time I went I ordered their meat sampler plate and everything on it was bone dry and disgusting. Even the hushpuppies were somehow bone dry. How does one accomplish that? I probably should have known better than to eat there after hearing Romney did a photo op there. wtf does someone from Massachusetts know about BBQ?

My ex gf worked there so I've eaten Danny's a bunch.. Usually the meat is dry (pork, brisket, whatever)

The sauce is served on the side and its ok at best. He's from Texas so he prefers the dark thick BBQ sauce and it probably is the best even though I'd prefer vinegar. They do have 4 kinds, they're just not really great IMO

Sides and dessert are usually good.

So yeah, it's worth a try

My favorite thing at Danny's is the potato salad. It's like a cold loaded baked potato. mmm bacony.

The bbq is alright in a pinch, but its pretty far down on my list of bbq places.

I always get the large pulled pork dinner. Portion sizes are good, sauce is delicious, the meat isn't too fatty. Sides are what you'd expect. I don't exactly have a refined pallet, but I enjoy it.

I get nothing but a ton of sass from those bitches at Backyard everytime I go in there. And they never have any of the sides I want.

Also, they advertise BEEF RIBS, and when I asked if they had any beef ribs the dude basically laughed in my face. FUck those motherfuckers.

I didnt throw a bitch fit. I just ordered the pork ribs instead. And took whatever side they had at the time. Yams. But those pork ribs were ridiculously overcooked and it was obvious they'd been sitting under the heatlamp for way too long. I'm not a picky eater at all. I just think think I've had better ribs at just about any other establishment.

With that said, I'll be back there again (and again). But Danny's is my favorite bbq place around.

is that opinion based on barbecue or ribs? or do you use those interchangeably? (the second question would make it easy for me to completely ignore your opinion)

jesus tittyfucking christ.

My overall opinion of their BARBECUE is not based on their ribs. Their barbecue is way too wet. Makes for a soggy damn sammich.

I just think Danny's is superior in every aspect of a typical BBQ joint that I've tried. (Ribs, BBQ, brisket)

BTW. I ate at the 54 location today for lunch and I'm STUFFED! The peach cobbler is way inferior to the banana pudding.

54 location has some cuties that work there.

That explains why Danny's is the only place I can find in the Triangle that has good brisket. I haven't been to the Pit yet though.

I love Danny's mostly because it isn't NC BBQ. There I said it. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?
