It's a ban on all NSFW material from every thread except ones marked nsfw.

Next thing you know - people are going to come to Feedback Forum and complain "so and so is posting too many nsfw threads" and then you post the search results of "username + nsfw".

Once you make exceptions to a law, such as the freedom of speech, then over time you'll incrementally lose your freedom. Let's take our "real life" freedom of speech for example:
The first limitation of speech was "Don't say FIRE in a movie theater".
Now it's progressed to "Don't say Bomb in an airport",
You can't say "I'm going to kill you",
and you can't even make a finger gun in school anymore.
We can't even protest peacefully on government property without a permit.

Regressing:
There was a time when all forums on this site were NSFW without warning. Then people complained about users posting random NSFW material in "serious forums" so the site mods compromised and let chit chat be the only place for NSFW material.

Now, they are pushing onto our territory because our territory (chit chat) happens to be the most fun and entertaining section of them all.

When you set a mixed rule where SFW threads reside next to NSFW ones, it's proven there is a gray area between SFW and NSFW that is open to interpretation. For instance, one person might consider this NSFW:

Even though someone else might consider it SFW.


When you see this gray area being tested more frequently, you can guarantee you'll have some prude complain about it. The only real way to preserve our freedom is to make that section unlimited for NSFW material so that these questions never arise. Chit chat must be anything goes. If you don't like it, use the Lounge.


TL;DR version - Don't mix SFW threads with NSFW threads in one section.
