I used to have a 95 taurus wagon, you could catch air in it so easy.

The front wheel drive made it fun to abuse because it was hard to lose control of.

I inherited it after it had been totaled(by my relative) and rebuilt (by a shoddy mechanic) when I hit bumps the interior lights would flash and the doors would lock and unlock. The AC only worked on high, and the outside paint did not match. I drove it until the radiator burst and the engine blew, then left it beside the road only taking the car battery and license plate..... Funnest car ever because it was worth less than a riding lawn mower and deserved to be abused.

I will give $1 of fake internet props money to someone who can find a picture of the new RPD car. All I found was a Chevy one that is ugly.

I remember driving my friend's mid 90's taurus with a tank of oxygen and acetylene in the boot up in NY. We took one turn from the welding shop and those sons of bitches rolled to the other side of the car and resulted in the tail of the wagon to fishtail just ever so slightly.

We had to rethink our tie down straps a bit better in the rain... lol

I've seen photos of Caprice PPVs in the RPD colors. Wonder which they'll go with long term?

I'm also seeing Taurus Police Interceptors in service with the Virginia State Police. The question is which setup? It's available in a 237 HP FWD variant and a 365 HP AWD variant. (IMO only the second deserves to be called "Interceptor" as the lesser version won't be intercepting much of anything.)

Wouldn't all of your pursuit driving training have to be re-done when changing from a RWD to FWD. The car is going to respond a lot differently in many situations.

The good thing will be snow/ice FWD>RWD in snow/ice.

Isn't the Impala that has been used in many places for a good amount of time now a FWD vehicle?

I would hope that the interceptor is the AWD, a google search shows that the taurus police interceptor is AWD.

Been FWD for a good long time. At least 15 years.

Chevy has a new cop car out now, based on the (now defunct) Pontiac G8 (itself based on the Holden Monero). V8 in the front, RWD in the back, just as God intended

If we're going to use an Australian design for a police car, there's only one way to go:

^^Hell yes. But the pursuit special/interceptor was pretty damn aweseome too, those would work.

The Impalas that were in use with the Highway Patrol (and campus police and many other squads) were FWD/V6. They have been supplanted by the Caprice PPV (RWD/V8 based on the Holden Commodore) as GM's police offering.

I had initially thought that the Interceptor was only available with AWD/turbo but I've read other things that seem to imply both civilian engines will be available.
