Today was shopping day. I also got a similar pair of merino wool socks to do a comfort comparison. Also picked up a couple new pairs of pants, some isotoner slippers, laptop friendly backpack for travel, and a new bed for the dog.

I have had a pair of cashmere socks in the back of my drawer for a year or two now still with the tags on them. I'm afraid to wear them because I don't know how to launder them properly. Plus, I can't think of an occasion special enough for me to wear them.

Just do it...wash em and hang em up to dry (buy one of those lingerie bags and put them in there so they don't get all tumbled up)

didn't care for them enough for the expenditure

i'm becoming a curmudgeon

plus, even living in delaware, it really was never cold enough to justify the heat retention generated by them. nothing like the rest of your body being cold, and your feet being a humid rain forest. which, in turn, expedites the life cycle. i didn't get the wicking effect some people talk about with them.

if you got a blend with nylon, they'll last longer, but aren't as nice. and hope you didn't get *gasp* chinese cashmere.

lingerie bags are also good for when you make the SO do the laundry. I have a bunch and put the wool sock in one, sweaters in another, and bras in another. He knows the stuff in bags doesn't go in the dryer.
