why was my topic locked and not the topic about rednecks? Why are jokes about rednecks acceptable and jokes about blacks are not? This is exactly the type of double standards ref used to talk about.

i would have to agree with culstuff here, y is it ok to call a white person a redneck or cracker, but the words black or the N word are unacceptable, not that i agree with racism, just don't understand this double standard

you're more likely to offend somebody telling a black joke than a white one, ,telling a nigger joke than a cracker one... it's just the way life is, either you accept it, or you do not and summarily live a life whining about it

yeah that is a tough subject. rednecks were never enslaved or banned from voting, so yeah its different I suppose. Not to mention that the word "redneck" can be defined several different ways. Rednecks can be people that live in trailors, or people that live in Missouri, etc. Someone can look at a redneck joke and say "ha, thats not me" even if you or I think they are a redneck. Its a hard term to define.

Its not hard, on the other hand, to define a black person. When a joke is made about black people, they are specifically targeted. There is no room for flexibility in the term "black" when it applies to people (unless a person is maybe half black and half white, etc).

So thats my shot at trying to explain why. I can't say I'm on one side or another here.
