Other than nights, it looks more like a pet walking service than a pet sitting service. I would want someone to be with my dog more during the day when he's awake and wanting attention than just sleeping at my house while the dog sleeps...

^^ I am still perplexed by this, but in the end they have to hire people that they have no doubts about. They are sending these people into homes of people that they sometimes never meet.


However, no matter the reasoning, I still I think it is awfully ridiculous that I am using my college degree to land this.

I've see on your website you list "vacation care".

I'm planning about a 5 day vacation in a few months and have been having issues finding a reliable in-home service for our 3 dogs. We know the dogs manage if we take them to something like PetSmart boarding, but it gets pretty damn expensive for 3 dogs and getting some form of extra attention. While the dogs are definitely more comfortable at home, there is a peace of mind knowing they're off boarding somewhere that has multiple employees that maintain their well-being.

We've tried a personal referral in the past and that home care didn't turn out as we had hoped. The issue we've had is competing daily priorities that always seem to end up as "well the owners are gone, so I'll stop by when I can". Are there any sort of guarantees with your people that they're truly be cared for while we're gone?

well there is a service where the sitter can take a photo of your animals at every visit. You will also have the contact info of the sitter and you can communicate with them at anytime. You can also complain since it is a company, and the sitter could possibly not get paid or fired if they did a bad job.

that's probably all they can do.

well, it seems requests are back in full swing. There is an influx of jobs, but it is still a little competitive for certain jobs.

I am cleaning someone's cat litter 4X a week and get $40/week for it

the sitters are expected to enter someone's home (and most of the clients are $$$) and to reliably care for their pampered animals. The clientele is mostly upperclass and they expect a lot. I suppose these 'high standards' is a way to reassure their newest clients that the job will be done as promised, and there won't be shit missing, in their minds.

.... still apparently a few sitters got in trouble/let go because the security systems provided proof that the sitters were not there when they said they were (college degrees and all)
