Happy Holidays! Let's see what we're celebrating.
Happy birthday to Attis, Sun God of Phrygia!
Happy birthday to Mithras, an ancient Persian god who rose from a rock on December 25th and went on to lead some very popular Roman soldier cults.
Io Saturnalia! This is the Roman holiday dedicated to Saturn, god of peace and plenty.
Happy Yuletide! Yule is the Northern European mid-winter celebration connected with Odin.
Best wishes to Marduk as he enters the underworld to battle Tiamat and ensure renewal for the new year. This is celebrated in the Mesopotamian holiday Zagmuk and the Babylonian festival Akitu. 12/24/2012 11:26:42 AM

Sextus Julius Africanus was the first to identify December 25 as the date of Jesus's birth in 221. The earliest known reference to the date of the nativity as December 25 is found in the Chronography of 354, an illuminated manuscript compiled in Rome. In the East, early Christians celebrated the birth of Christ as part of Epiphany (January 6), although this festival emphasized celebration of the baptism of Jesus. 12/24/2012 12:56:45 PM
