Most depressing music I've ever heard.

Is that what they're shooting for?

Shit most of the music I listen to isn't all that upbeat or shiny happy people, a lot of it is pretty dark, but that Bright Eyes shit is on another level.

I remember seeing "When the President Talks to God" on Leno back in 2005. I think that was the same year that you could be nominated for a grammy just by writing a song critical of George Bush.

Anyway, I wasn't impressed with any of it, least of all the dude trying to sing like Arlo Guthrie.

were you listening to an older album? Cassadaga (2007) was one of my favorite albums when it came out and was a more upbeat. been awhile since i've listened to it.

I saw both of the 2004-2005 shows

tartsquid and I saw I'm Wide Awake It's Morning in Raleigh
that show was made way better by Tilly and the Wall

paco and I saw Digital Ash in a Digital Urn in Winston-Salem
that show was made way better by The Faint

its nice that Conor is on a good label

Early Dashboard Confessional was my guilty Emo pleasure.
My 19 year old self use to cry, slice open my arms, and sob to Swiss Army Romance.

I gotta give Bright Eyes a shout out with Lover I Don't have to Love, but First Day of My Life is pretty loverly music. Not rip my guts out and cry tears of blood.

[Edited on January 11, 2013 at 7:16 PM. Reason : ^ whiney songs about breaking up is not the same as legitmately depressing songs]

real cut yourself songs: Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh; Sunrise, Sunset; Ladder Song

yeah he lacks commitment
he'll sell us all suicide but he won't take any of his own medicine

I'm Wide Awake It's Morning was one of my favorite albums in college but I don't really like any of their other stuff.

I thought that concert I saw with Snewf was mostly improved by CocoRosie being fucking awesome.
