Watching the slow mo at the very end from the front angle I can only assume whatever he did was on the initial contact. Best I can tell it looks like the snowmobile flips over him but never really hits him again surprisingly.

He walked away from the accident (with some help). It was later on that the found blood or some rupture around his heart and later brain damage from what they originally thought was only a concussion. sad
