So. my AC air filter has gotten completely wet, and worn down. I noticed a thin layer of ice on the unit itself. Anyone know what to do in this scenario?

Turn it all the way off and turn the fan on.

Let it defrost, change your air filter, and then change your filter more often so the unit gets adequate airflow.

i flipped the breakers on the ac condensing unit and blower (im only familiar with commercial type AC systems, like split systems and such) off, so hopefully that helps. hopefully given that, the ice will melt, as the ambient temperature here is usually in the mid 70's on average.

turn the AC off, turn the fan on, change the filter, call your AC guy to check the coolant level.

Needs refrigerant and may have a leak. Try running it in AC mode to rapidly melt the ice.

I, may or may not, have said that in the first post.
