I liked it.

I generally don't like these types of shows though, so i'm not the typical viewer.

i did not like the musical performances for the most part. the ones Seth did were funny, but maybe dragged on more than they needed to. I hated the bond, dreamgirls, and striesand shit. bored me to tears.

He's the only reason I watched the oscars this year. I thought he was great, his opening was hilarious and i'm glad he didn't hold back with any of his jokes. I'd love to see him host again.

I find it sad that people are throwing words around like "sexism" and "racism" in various reviews i've read online. It's like some people just literally do not have a sense of humor.

also...

i also enjoyed him hosting. maybe i'm not as much of a feminist as I thought I was, but i didn't find his jokes off putting at all. a few that i follow on twitter pointed out that four of the movies/actresses he mentioned having shown their boobs were during rape scenes. and that's where i don't know where the line is for me. i don't think rape jokes are funny, but he didn't make a rape joke.

shatner bit was too long.

i lol'd hard on the sound of music bit.

i was glad to have dvr'd b/c i got to fast forward through the chicago/dreamgirls/les mis...although i did stop to listen to jennifer hudson for a bit.

I watched the beginning then FF it to the James Bond tribute and shut it off after. I thought Seth was funny.

eh, he's so 2003. Honestly I'm tired of him being all "LISTEN GUYS I CAN SING!" all the time, its one reason why Family Guy has been absolute shit for the past few years.

Self-indulgent (so much bad singing), mostly garbage.

Occasionally a bit would score, but most of the jokes were aimed poorly (bailing out his Clooney bit with the bottle especially), and he was way out of his depth in basic presentation skills.

I liked the Sound of Music bit, though.

True, but it was even hackier than that. It was ostensibly watching a rape scene and saying, "Look, titties! Tee hee!"

I doubt he was responsible for 100% of what he said and sang. They have a team of writers, plus the producers had to sign off on the whole thing.

If people took issue (read: if people don't know how to take a joke) then they shouldn't take it out on him.

I was so close to watching for this exact reason.

i see that.
it also took me seeing a twitter post reminding me that was the subject of these actresses losing their top for film.

i see the line between the joke and offensive. i think i'm too wrapped up in my own internal debate about it to fully participate in a discussion though. so i'm gonna stop for the moment heh

They're mostly his writers. And as the person chosen to try to hit the younger demos, I'm sure he had 100% refusal on all jokes.

I thought he was great. I laughed several times. The Bond tribute was good, though I was disappointed that there wasn't more to it. (mainly b/c of that false rumor that all the "Bonds" were going to be present ). Honestly I loved all his jokes, especially given the ultra liberal demographics of the audience (i.e. PC)

I shut it off at 11 though. twas time for bed.

You can film a rape scene without nudity. So the nudity was obviously there for another reason.

I was also hoping that all the bonds would be on stage together.

And that they would take turns poking fun at George Lazenby.
