Being born and raised in HP this is still mind boggling when I think about the campus now versus what it was when I was growing up just down the street.

When I was growing up the place was a shit hole. Lots of old buildings and its in a not great part of town (there's a lot of subsidized housing aka projects right behind the school on the southside) and all the manufacturing losses hit the town pretty hard so there's a lot of urban decay in that area.

But somehow they managed to just bring in oodles of money and rebrand as a place for yankee kids who didn't get into their preppy little liberal arts college up north to come down and just party there. Bunch of new dorms and buildings and they built a wall between them and the ghetto.

If you read between the lines and listen to some of the background chatter there's some talk that the money situation is a bit sketchy but I don't know enough about it.

haha i work in a bar right next to their campus at nights after i get off work at my day grind. (liberty steakhouse and brewery). in the past 5 years HPU has done a 180...the kids and the campus. most of these kids.. HOLY FUCK WHAT ASSHOLES. never seen anything like it
