WHOA, HOLD UP,

you need to look at the ceiling when you squat

do you want to paralyze yourself by using a neutral t-spine position?

well

lift heavy enough, enough times, and sleep enough and you pretty much can eat whatever you want.

ever seen what powerlifters do during bulking phases?

shit's gross, yo.

My orthopaedic surgeon in NYC told me that as well (after my ACL reconstruction). He told me never to do it again. Then my new orthopaedic surgeon in Raleigh said squats are fine, lol

Proper squatting is key to optimal knee health.

If someone says squatting is bad for your knees, immediately shut them out because they have no idea wtf they are talking about.

Squatting is a basic human functional movement.

One of my buddies was complaining about knee pain from squatting. I told him to not let his knees extend past his toes. He changed his form and said the pain went away.

I couldn't believe that whole time he was using bad form

squats, when done properly, are not bad for your knees. Squats, when done improperly, which I'm willing to bet 85% of the people doing them do, are bad for your knees.

oh and:

maybe not absolutely necessary, but it will help keep down the soreness to stretch before and after. Also, once you pull or tear something, you will sing a different tune. I tore my hamstring on an upper body day, leaning over a rack to put up some dumb bells, so now if I'm gonna do any lifting, I make sure to warm myself up (usually about 12-25 minutes on the treadmill), and I stretch at the very minimum what I'm gonna be working that day. That is unless I'm just doing body weight stuff (ie: pushups/pull ups/etc).
