http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/schecter-guitar-research-omen-solo-6-electric-guitar

I paid $199 from Musician's Friend

Quote :

A singlecut rocker with string-thru sustain and humbucking crunch.

Schecter's Omen Solo-6 boasts a singlecut basswood body supercharged with a pair of Schecter Diamond Plus humbuckers that deliver the hard rock crunch needed to cut through today’s modern metal and rock mixes.

Maple neck
Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a basswood body.

Rosewood fretboard
The most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is fundamentally richer than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Schecter Diamond Plus humbuckers
Over-wound coils with a ceramic magnet give these aggressive high output pickups the push that will send your amp over the edge. Made for crunchy rhythms and blistering leads, and perfect for drop tunings, this pickup will cut through the mix with ease.

Schecter tuning machines
These high quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

TOM w/thru body bridge
Classic design Tune-O-Matic bridge with a Schecter 'String Thru' body tail, for added string tension, sustain and clarity.
Features

Basswood contoured body
24.75" scale bolt-on maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
22 X-Jumbo frets
Pearloid "Semi-Goth" inlay
Schecter Diamond Plus humbucking neck pickup
Schecter Diamond Plus humbucking bridge pickup
Master volume and tone control
3-Way pickup selector
TOM w/thru body bridge
Schecter tuning machines
Black chrome hardware

No its like saying if you ever buy a PC at best buy then you're doing it wrong (and btw you are doing it wrong). If I said "If you bought a guitar off warmoth then you're doing it wrong" then you would be correct. But you probably don't know what warmoth is.

I will find you a better guitar for the same price or less and you can return this one.

Not a fan of only one volume control on a two-pickup guitar, but whatever.

You could've done worse for $200, but you also could've done better.

The biggest problem with buying a guitar online is that you can't try out multiple examples if the same model in order to find a good one. It's especially important with Asian import guitars.

I have played this exact guitar at Guitar Center and I play classic rock mainly with a mix of pretty much anything that catches my fancy.

I know the pickups are not very good, but that is true on any almost any sub $500 guitar.

One time like 10 years ago I played an ESP FX-260 in guitar center. To this day I will swear that it was one of the nicest playing guitars I've ever played. I bought one on ebay and it sucks. I've had it set up by different people. It just sucks. On the other hand, I've never been disappointed with any other guitar I've bought online, but I think I've only ever bought one from ebay. The rest I got on Harmony Central where its possible to have some kind of idea how much the owner cares.

For the record, many Japanese Epiphones are better than their Gibson counterparts. That's not to mention the '60s, when Epiphones were made in the Gibson factory, or previous to that, when Epiphone was making guitars so much better than Gibsons that they were purchased by the company to preserve Gibson market share.

I've played a Schecter guitar. Typical low/mid-grade Korean stuff. Their Chinese stuff is subpar compared to Squier.

I have played many schecters. I have never liked any of them. Probably because they all come with shitty pickups, are typically tuned poorly to drop C, and they're usually heavy as fuck / not balanced too well.

^^^Yeah I have never heard anything bad about 60s epiphones.

^I'd rather take my chances on a used epiphone or Gibson copy on ebay than buy a new schecter.

Schecters are decent guitars for metal bands and your shitty dad playing outside a bar in garner classic rock cover band. L i t e r a l l y no one else plays them. There is almost always a better option.

Also, keep in mind that all of the fake Gibsons available from Chinese bootleg sites are made in the same factory as your Schecter.

Not according to actual bands members I know in Raleigh, Schecter is one of the best guitars for a value priced electric. This is quoting multiple people who actually play in profitable bands, not TWW members.

China = Indonesia??

These aren't LP copies, most people consider these an in between of a Strat and a LP.

The only thing Strat-like on it is the basswood body, and Alder and Ash are preferred for Strats.

The board is LP-style, the pickups are LP-style, and most importantly, the scale length is LP-style.

Active pickups are possibly the worst guitar development of all time. A much better solution is to build a Zvex SHO and put it inside your guitar. You will get the same higher gain signal but you aren't restricted to it.

String thru design, dual active humbuckers and a thin U neck make this one a pleasure to play.

The ESP H330NT Electric Guitar is a straight-forward rocker with an attention to detail and craftsmanship of guitars costing much more. It has a beveled mahogany body with bolt-on neck construction. Its maple neck has a 25.5" scale and a thin U neck contour for playing comfort. The rosewood fingerboard has a 1.65" nut, 24 XJ frets and discrete fret markers. The H330NT is powered by dual ESP ALH-200 active pickups with controls for Master Volume and Tone and a 3-way pickup selector switch. I never said they were playing Schecters, they play Gibsons and Line 6.

I was talking about their suggestions for a budget Electric guitar and if wasn't going to be a Korean guitar from RondoMusic (Hawk/Douglas/Agile), it was going to be a Schecter or an Epiphone. They all said Schecter without any question.

Epiphone makes very few things in Korea any more. Every Indonesian guitar I've ever played has been garbage.

The best thing going in cheap guitars is the Squier Classic Vibe stuff, specifically the slab/three-saddle Teles and the Duo-Sonic.
