I read yesterday that if you swallow a castor bean seed whole, it will pass through you without ill effect. Snake venom is actually the same way, and that is what makes it a venom and not a poison (there are no poisonous snakes). So would it be more accurate to say ricin venom?

No, venom is distinguished by being injected (fangs, stinger, etc). Poison is absorbed (through skin, mucous membranes, ingestion, inhalation, etc).


So...bees, stingrays, snakes--these are venomous. Ricin, VX, sarin, cyanide, etc are poisons.

and it also is starting to look like ricin is really really hard to detect, so test sensitivity may be high enough to give majority false positive results
