They need to have an ordinance in Charlotte against blaring the train horns during the wee hours of the morning. Is it really fucking necessary??? In town that is why they have rail crossing guards to let folks driving know you are coming.

I actually like hearing trains at night. I lived about a half mile from train tracks growing up and for some reason I didn't mind being woken up now and then. It wasn't blasting every night or anything though.

i don't mind it. i live rather close to HUR, i think, and i don't mind the train. It's far easier on the ears than the hospital ER entrance I lived near a couple years ago and the Fire Station I live near now. but I sleep with my windows open as much as possible so that makes it worse than it really is.

I've lived right next to a fire station for 3 years now and after a month or two I stopped noticing the sirens. I also have friends/family who have lived/still live directly beside the train tracks downtown for years (some 20+) who don't notice the trains at all

in summary: get the fuck over it

Sometimes in the middle of the night I confuse the rumble of a train for a tornado. It really fucks you
