^^That's right... you've been warned people! (actually I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it this year)

^I've only been once, but it was fun, concerts, performers, food, various arts/crafts/other vendors, and a lot of organizations, companies, nonprofits, and churches that had tables set up. It's not a bad way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday if you're looking for something free to do.

Please don't mistake this as an insult to your reading comprehension, but if I'm likely not going, then I'm likely not going to be taking many pictures.

What the hell? I try to share about a fun event happening in the area, and y'all are riding me for something I haven't even done yet.

Just photoshop some rainbow flags onto photos of any other DTR event and no one will know the difference.

I didn't make it, but it sounds like it was its biggest year yet.

"RALEIGH, N.C. — Organizers with the LGBT Center of Raleigh say more than 15,000 people attended their annual Out! Raleigh festival on Fayetteville St. on Saturday.

It’s its third year, the annual event has grown by more than double since its first event in 2011, when 6,000 people attended."

http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/05/04/2871248/same-sex-families-find-community.html

Quote :
"The festival was founded in 2010 to be more low-key than other gay pride events and focused largely on families, said James Miller, executive director of the LGBT Center of Raleigh.

Broadway was chosen to headline the event after she challenged the military’s treatment of same-sex spouses last year.

Broadway and her partner, Lt. Col. Heather Mack, based at Ft. Bragg, married in November. Despite sharing 15 years and two children together, Broadway was denied membership in the Association of Bragg Officers’ Spouses Club. The Pentagon doesn’t recognize same-sex spouses.

So, Broadway, director of family affairs for the American Military Partner Association, and others campaigned to change the rules. By Oct. 1, all same-sex spouses are expected to have military identification and other benefits."

We had a good time. Had some good food and visited the vendors. Went a little overboard with the gourmet dog treats, but I was feeling bad for the pup. We didn't stay super long though, the wind was crazy when we were there.

I'm all for pride events, but why the fucking fuck did they turn Fayetteville back into a street?

They close that shit every other weekend for any random group of assholes who can wrangle some food tents and shitty bands.
