i agree, bhs...but i do know some people that insist on cleaning everything with soap, regardless of what it has been used for.
here's a little more grey area: putting peanut butter on a piece of bread, wiping the knife completely clean with a paper towel, and putting it back? (allergy concerns aside)

i see no problem with the OP
I'm not surprised some people would want to wash it though. Some people wash bath towels after each and every use even though they should theoretically be clean when they are towel-drying
