Literally just accepted a new job in Denver (same company but in a different organization). Moving from Charlotte to Denver in the coming months. Thought I'd share the joy.

Thanks man. Better weather. No fucking mosquitoes. No humidity. 300 days of sunshine. What more can you ask for right? ~120 start up software company. I'm in paradise.

Congratulations! I have a phone call with a company tomorrow morning, I hope your vibes rub off on the rest of us or something XD

But I've only heard wonderful things about Denver, one of my best friends is there now.

I work for a small software company (~150 people). I was originally a business analyst in the business solutions organization. I'm transitioning to data services/r&d. Much more of a technical/big data/sql role.

Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Congrats!!

Also,

Is your family is Charlotte? If so, won't you miss them?
How could you abandon your friends like that?
Are you just running away from your problems instead of trying to fix them?
What's going to make you happier in Denver compared to NC?
New friends can be hard to come by, so you might end up miserable and alone.
You feeling shitty yet?

^^^^Haha yes!!!

^Yay finally some questions!!

Yes my parents are in Charlotte and I will miss them but I have two cousins who live in Denver and they're awesome. They're excited I'm moving out here. I do have a very solid friend base in Charlotte but it's shrinking as people move away. I already have a few good friends in Denver and a lot of great co-workers so I don't think that'll be an issue.

Haha I don't think I have problems in either location and this role fits me a lot better than the role I'm leaving in Charlotte.

I love the outdoors, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, climbing and I hate the humidity and bugs so Denver is going to be perfect. I just need to find a place to live now.

What if you up root your whole life moving to Denver and then get laid off?

The only way I would get laid off is if my company got bought and that's a small chance. It's a thought so. I was working remotely most of the time in Charlotte anyway so I wasn't really uprooting. I'm not married and don't have kids and I grew up in Charlotte. I need to get out sometime.

I would be happier in Charlotte than Chicago. Closer to the beach and the mountains and better weather. Denver is obviously much closer to much bigger mountains and better weather than either Chicago or Charlotte.

Look neo... Denver and Chicago have better bars and clubs. Fuck outdoors. You are going to be spending all your free time going after tail and getting drunk as shit. Both places are good for that. You will have a blast.

Haha I'm sick of going out to bars. I do enough of that with work and travel. Denver does have a great beer and bar scene and I'm looking forward to that but my primary interests are backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and lots of skiing. I would not be happy in Chicago.

Denver is awesome. it feels like a slightly bigger and much better Raleigh. lots of great ski mountains nearby and everyone there is attractive and in shape.

Although there are A LOT of homeless people in Denver and the skyline has nothing on Charlotte's skyline but those are minor issues.

Nice job man, going from a B- City in a D state to an A- City in a B+ state, in my gradebook.

Oh god that's a terrible metaphor but whatever, Denver be a cool city, please take me with you.

Since it was within my company the other department was pretty much like: "you'd be better working for us so here's an offer" and I was like hell yeah.
