The TV screen goes black while the sound continues to work. It acts like I am switching from one source to another even though I am not doing anything. Also when I switch to anything that is hooked up via HDMI, it just shows a blue screen that says No Signal! for at least 5 mins until it will finally start working.
The TV is an Element Electronics ELDFT421. Is this something I could replace myself to fix it or should I just sell it and get a new one?
Here is a video of what its doing. Sometimes it will do it every 15 secs and sometimes it will go for an hour without doing it.

Did you hook anything new up to it recently, or unplug and plug in some stuff? I have an older Element TV (like 2007) that that always flipped out if I try to plug a VGA cable in without power cycling (if I recall correctly I found some documentation suggesting it was designed to work that way -- you get what you pay for). 6/28/2013 10:56:47 AM |

It has been doing both of these issues for quite some time, but they are happening more frequently and longer lately. It has had the same 3 things hooked up to it since Ive had it so nothing new. Ill try power cycling it to see if that helps. 6/28/2013 11:13:15 AM |

Yo holmes, to Bel-Air!
I'd bet it's probably an issue with the connectors on the back of the tv (loose, have a short, etc.). I had an el cheapo TV that did the same thing with the RCA connections until they just stopped working completely. Yeah, you get what you pay for. I'm sure you could probably fix it, but you're probably better off just getting rid of it and buying a higher quality TV. 6/28/2013 12:48:03 PM |
