This is probably the first time that I think them shooting the dog could be justifiable. It looks like the one cop is trying to grab and calm down the dog when it lunges at him and the other cop shoots it. It was only trying to protect its owner, but still could have injured the officer. The owner probably should have rolled up his windows before he put the dog in the car.

^I see half of your point, I think. I love dogs as much as the next guy, but because most folks can't see reality outside the confines of popular television shows, where people get snuffed left and right, they feel the need to educate the rest of us on the evils of harming animals but will be the first on the bus to watch a guy get hanged in the town square if town squares still existed.

(in general) and will just charge a camera holding person with obstruction of justice, confiscate the evidence (if there is any) , fail to prosecute and lose the paperwork that said they owned a camera when they came in.

That's the first half of the video. Shows the SWAT raid and about the 1 minute mark the dog owner pulls up into the intersection and after a few seconds turns his music up loud. At the same time the police are using megaphones to get folks out of the house. The dog owner parks his car, keeps the music turned up and gets out and starts arguing with the police. I couldn't make out what was said, but I'm sure it had something to do with his music and maybe needing to move back to the other side of the road.


To me that puts things in a different light. Still sad, but not worth ruining a man's life or career over. The dog's owner shouldn't have done something like that. It's just sad.

I might be on the side that calls it "justifiable"...but it doesn't make it any less sad.

I'll go on record as saying that Rottweilers are scary as fuck. I've got a couple in my neighborhood and I use to see a girl that had a 100+ lb rottie. I'm not afraid of them in general...but it's the one dog that I see and say to myself..."man, that dog would fuck me up." On the flip side, I think they are one of the most beautiful breeds out there as well. They are just good looking dogs.

In this particular instance, the cops definitely could have used more restraint. While the dog looked upset that they were fucking with his owner, I think he would have to been a lot more aggresive to justify shooting him. With that being said...you can't predict what a dog is going to do in that instance. And although he hadn't attacked anyone yet, it only takes a split second before a 90 lb rottweiler has a hold of your arm...and those are strong ass dogs.

I wish the owner had rolled up his window more. Watching that dog die on the sidewalk just ruined my fucking morning.

The owner fucked up the cop was scared and a happy well meaning dog that thought his owner was getting attacked and wanted to help him got shot. It fucking sucks, the cop had every right to shoot the dog but if he knew anything about dogs he could have handled it better.
