So who here hates their job but is just sticking it out due to the piss poor economy/job market? I for one loathe my job, but due to the stableness of it I am trying to stick it out. Actively looking something better though.

don't actively look for one using company resources. HR and IT would easily figure that shit out and can your ass.

Well aware of that and I dont. That being said with my current career I dont have to really worry about IT or HR. Our "IT" guy knows how I feel and kind of feels the same as I do and the HR department has little to no access to our system.

i don't love my job by any stretch, but i don't hate it because it's low stress and my supervisor is awesome

still looking for something more interesting, though

my job, for the most part, is low stress. i have deadlines but don't have much trouble meeting them. i like my role but know that i'd have to take on another side of the business to move up. and i really don't enjoy that side or have any desire to do it.

so i know that i need to begin looking for something else, but i just can't force myself to start. the money, hours, flexibility here have me in a "settled" mindset.

this

i could make more, but i'd have to work harder (which, more importantly, includes less flexibility in my schedule and more responsibility both inside and outside of work)...and i'm not really interested in doing that

I can't imagine loving any job unless it was something that involved sports. So I'll just strive to make as much money as possible and not hate my job. Right now I'm just in a "dislike" stage. Not quite up to hate level yet.

the "piss poor economy" excuse died out back in 2010 and people are still milking it as an excuse to be lazy.

Don't hate, don't love. Blinded by the dollar. Would be more fun if Jeepin4x4 wanted to hang out with me after. I thought we were going to be friends.

Nope, it still sucks. And 2013 is looking to be the slowest year for my company since I started back in 2008.

My thoughts echo what Jeepin said above.

^As an unemployed 2013 grad, I agree with this statement.

Also, for those of you who hate your job... why? And what sort of companies do you work for?

I don't know about all that.

^just use epack. If your gpa sucks then don't put it on your resume. You shouldn't worry about trying to find a dream job straight out of college if you don't already have contacts or incredibly relevant experience... You will probably have 3 or 4 jobs in the next 5 years. Look at anyone < 30's linkedin page.

This depends on the metrics you want to use. Yes unemployment overall is lower, but the under employment figure is still like 17% (i.e. people are working for less than their skills would suggest). Also the fact that so many people have given up looking for work or joined the disability roles has skewed the overall unemployment numbers the past couple years as well.

My job is high stress, but pays well and I like my boss and the work I do so I am content. I wish I could get more time away (I forfeit vacation time every year it seems) because our company is lean and it's impossible to take a week off without screwing yourself for the next month.

My job is low stress, pays decently, everyone is pretty cool. Job 3 (4 if you want to get technical) in one year after graduation. I don't think it is very difficult to find jobs.

I am bored as shit with my job and hate the people I work with

but I'm in finance, so I can only really change the people I work with, and that will never be a guarantee, so I'm sticking for now
