Among other things, demographic characteristics like race and sexual orientation did not appear to significantly influence the results, but then again there were few respondents who weren't white and few who weren't straight (although gay and bi men were overrepresented relative to the population at large); however, guys who got hard from oral and then measured tended to be longer than guys who didn't.

but from that study, the averages for length (pubic bone to tip) and girth (the circumference at base or middle) are:

length (flaccid): 9.16cm (3.61in)
girth (flaccid): 9.31cm (3.66in)
length (erect): 13.12cm (5.16in)
girth (erect) 11.66cm (4.59in)

only 5% of men have an erect length greater than 16cm (6.3in)...i'm sure 90% of these are TWW, right?

no consistent association between penis size and other physical features (ball size, foot size, etc)

as noted, there was no evidence for a relationship between race and size...BUT the overwhelming majority of samples were from whites, so take that with a grain of salt

Also, from what I read, this study WAS conducted with the "press against pubic bone" method (which I had never heard of...what the hell kind of way to measure your penis is that? That's like saying "Yeah, mine's 18" long! I measure starting from the small of my back.") I guess that's to reduce/eliminate impact from variables like BMI, which they say there is no correlation with, incidentally. I don't think you could isolate that variable without doing the "press-in" measurement. Still, wouldn't that buy most people, what, an extra inch or something? That just seems impossible that the average penis is only 5.16" long when you're pressing the ruler in. That would really mean average is well under 5". I'm no connoisseur of cock, but these numbers just don't seem right.

Maybe some of you who are intimately familiar with more penises than I am can shed some light.

I would say that people are just getting fatter and fatter, so maybe "average" nowadays is small, due to losing weiner length to flab circumference, but the "press-in" thing would more or less isolate that variable (except for maybe really giant fatasses), and they said there was no correlation with BMI.

I was about to remark that maybe what GrumpyGOP saw was atypical of African Americans because they were not descended from the peoples now living in Benin but rather from farther West, but then I found this map on Wikipedia.


Also IMO they should do a follow-up meta-analysis that allows studies published in languages other than English, then maybe the meta-sample wouldn't be so overwhelmingly White.

Yeah, slavery was huge here -- the dominant ethnic group established their kingdom with a basis firmly in the slave trade, and the port of Ouidah (or Whydah, if you prefer) was one of the chief slave ports in West Africa. To the extent that Benin has tourism, it is dominated by 1) slavery-related sites and 2) voodoo, which originates in Benin and is one of the main religions here to this day, and which slaves brought with them to the new world, along with their perfectly average cocks.
