Continuing an annual thread tradition started by JockGirl's thread about this event back in 09. It's at the Carolina Theatre in downtown Durham, beside the convention center, across the street from the parking deck/blue glass looking building. It runs from August 9th to 18th. Here are a few samples of the films that are playing, and the complete schedule.

CHASTITY BITES

Quote :
"This delicious horror-comedy centers around a small-town high school whose new abstinency-only Sex Ed. teacher Liz Batho (Louise Griffiths) is actually the infamous Elizabeth Bathory, countess from the 16th century who bathed in the blood of virgins in order to stay young and beautiful forever. The treatment apparently works, because she's still at in in 21st century America, only virgins are a lot harder to come by. Fortunately, a group of the school's rich, shallow, popular girls, dubbed "the Hiltons" by those not in the clique, are eager to join Ms. Batho's exclusive chastity club - not from any actual desire to protect their virtue, but in the hope that it will lead to a possible deal for a reality series. More skeptical of their teacher's intentions is Leah(Allison Scagliotti, Warehouse 13), social outcast, staunch feminist, and hard-hitting reporter for the school paper. As the only one who senses something wrong with Liz Batho and her methods, it's up to her to uncover her evil plan and put a stop to it!"

OUT IN THE DARK

Quote :
"Taking great risks, a handsome young Palestinian named Nimr sneaks out of his home, climbs over a fence, and dodges police just to go to a gay bar in Tel Aviv. There, he meets a dreamy lawyer named Roy and the two hit it off. Nimr, studying for his masters degree in psychology, has a partial student visa for Israel and hopes eventually to continue at a university in the U.S. Roy has it a bit easier, able to be openly-gay with friends and family and not gazed-on with suspicion by others. Together, they try to build a relationship, but the hazards of where they live and where they are from threaten their happiness. Out in the Dark dramatically conveys the difficulties of a cross-cultural love affair when the cultures are virtually at war with each other. When Nimr’s family finds out about Roy, the tension ratchets even higher and the lovers must consider desperate measures in order to stay together."

THE CAMPAIGN

Quote :
"The Campaign tells the inside story of the fight to stop California's wildly controversial Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage and ignited a movement. With exclusive access to the state Headquarters of the "No on 8" campaign in San Francisco, filmmaker Christie Herring captures the essence of the emotional journey. In-depth observational footage and interviews follow stakeholders, from Executive Committee Members to first-time volunteers. The Campaign explores fault lines of religion, race and identity at the critical turning point in the push for LGBT rights, offering an intimate portrait of committed individuals inside a pressure cooker, compelled by both circumstance and their passionate beliefs to go far beyond their everyday selves.

Precedced by: Win or Lose. In this inspiring story from the struggle for marriage equality, a photographer takes up his camera to fight a proposed amendment to the North Carolina Constitution."

I've seen several other Israeli movies that use homosexuality as plot point and they are usually really good. I'll try to see this one as well.
