It seems I'm hearing some other supposed use for vinegar every day.

What does vinegar do for you?

I've been pickling a lot of veggies from my garden.

And a shot of vinegar will help drain your sinuses. It somehow thins your mucus or something.

How much in with sheets/towels? the smell doesn't overpower?

Vinegar has a ton of cleaning uses. As long as it's rinsed or diluted it doesn't leave a smell.

I wash strawberries in a vinegar-water bath before I put them in the fridge.

This morning I was complaining about how I always get tricep cramps, and a friend said whenever she gets a cramp there she takes a swig of vinegar and it goes away. I was going to look up whether there's any truth to that tonight.

I left a blender bottle in my car with remnant of protein shake in it... well when i took it out and opened it, it smelled like a combination of rotten meat and iced coffee. I washed that thing 4 times by hand and ran it through the dish washer twice, but nothing got rid of the smell. Thanks to this thread, i had the idea to soak it with vinegar. smell is completely gone! Thanks Tdub!

How do you all use it for general purpose cleaning? Just mix it by ratio with water and use it on your counter tops/fridge etc? What ratio do you use?

^^^ i have a 32oz spray bottle that i do:

1/4c lemon juice
3/4c white distilled vinegar
3c water

it's our all-around-the-house all-purpose cleaner...counters, glass stovetop, cabinets, tile, outside of the toilet, etc...pretty much anything and everything but mirrors

^ that's more vinegar than is necessary (at least in my experience)...i see the 1:1 ratio referred to a lot, though

I have found 2 teaspoons of vinegar to be the most effective and fastest cure for indigestion (way better than tums). When you swallow the vinegar it actually makes the indigestion feel worse for about 5 seconds and then it completely goes away. I read about it somewhere and thought it was nuts until I tried it.

I use vinegar primarily for laundry as already stated. I use baking soda with the detergent first, then I use vinegar with the rinse cycle.

I love vinegar.

I use it mostly as a fabric softener (add 1/2c to the rinse cycle). It's also good for cleaning produce becuase it removes bacteria and pesticide residue (make a 50/50 water/vinegar solution - adding a squeeze of lemon juice is good too and can help remove e.coli).

I'll also use vinegar if I make a marinara sauce and I add too much sugar to it. The vinegar helps take out the sweetness. Good tip for anyone that makes any type of sauce that ends up too sweet.

^^nope. doesn't happen, and is actually the proper way to remove the "oh shit I left my laundry sitting in the washer too long and it smells funky" smell

Bc you realize the washer drains the water that cleans the clothes with the baking soda before the rinse cycle right? So it's new water that you add the vinegar to. You don't add them at the same time.

Apple Cider and even the white vinegar is good for taking the sting out of Sunburns. Stinks to high heaven but it works even on the worst sunburn.
