died in a car wreck? Or do you have connections to anyone who has experienced this? After todays breaking news I started to think about what has happened in the past and realized I have connections to a lot of people who have either died in car wrecks, or been murdered.

The missing Apex man that was found dead today was the son of a guy that I know from playing rec soccer in the area. My cousin was killed in a car wreck last year. An ex-classmate of mine at Wake Tech was killed in a car wreck. A guy I know from high school and through other friends had his mom die in a car wreck back in 1997. A cousin of mine was murdered by her crazy father when she was an infant. A distant cousin of mine was murdered because her father was involved in the illegal drug trade. It was one of those revenge murder deals. She was married to a cousin of mine from the other side of my family (no blood relation). Two sisters that worked at the grocery store with me while I was in college had their father murder their mother and then commit suicide while talking to a 911 operator. Their parents shopped at the store.

Is this common for someone to know this many murdered people and this many people who died in car wrecks?

is this that guy that wandered off after arguing with his girl at a bar?

and i know bout 9 or 10 i think it is fairly common to know that many that died suddenly, because it happens a lot.

^Yeah. His dad runs the Carolina 7s soccer league in Fuquay near Holly Springs. I've gone down there to play before. He knows all of the same people I do from playing soccer.

^Multiple people from my church have died in car wrecks too. The one went to school and sat next to the girl whose mom died in the 1997 car wreck that I mentioned above. The same year that guy died in a car wreck a girl in my senior class was also killed in a car wreck.

My mom's best friend recently shot herself in the face.
A boy I worked with at Winn Dixie killed himself this year.
A manager from winn Dixie was killed in a car wreck.
A bagger from winn Dixie was riding her bike to work and was hit by a transfer truck.
Ambrosia1231, who the hell really knows what happened there
The guy I sat beside in high school band was killed by a roadside bomb overseas.
A friend of my sister shot and killed his step father.
A girl who was supposed to be my babysitter when younger never showed up. Turns out she ran away from home and was raped and killed.
A boy my grandmother used to keep died in a drunk driving incident at 16.

I could keep listing things but it is getting depressing. I think everyone knows a decent amount of people who died, with several coming to a shocking end.

^^^^Don't worry. I haven't lived in Iowa since July of 1985. I live quite far away from the people in my family tree who have been arrested for making meth.

I don't really. One guy from college was a suicide. One guy from high school had cancer. Someone I knew through Fareako died in a car wreck a couple months ago. Beyond that, it's pretty much old age or old enough that you're not shocked they die of something else.

Maybe I don't know that many people.

I suppose it also depends on what you mean by "know." I had a pretty small high school and don't go to church, which seems to account for a good number of people.

I've known very few people who came to violent ends. I've been acquainted with like 3-4 suicides, but they were all either loose acquaintances or from my very distant past. I also knew some random chick who died in a car crash....shrug.

I'm very, very insensitive about things like this. Since turning 13, I think I've only cried or been seriously affected by one creature's death, and that was my cat.

^^^I've never cried at a funeral either, but I'm kind of amazed that I know/am related to this many murdered people and know so many people who have died in a car wreck. I wonder what the national average is for murder rates in families that don't grow up in the ghetto, or run organized crime gangs.

My first ever "boyfriend" in my kindergarten class was murdered a few years ago. They shot him and his girlfriend in his car, then torched it. I heard it was meth/money related.

Another girl from my high school art classes overdosed several years ago, when she was in her mid-twenties. She had a young kid or two. Her brother, another guy from in high school, committed suicide (which I found out about very recently).

Fortunately none of these things have happened to people very close to me. It has just been people from my hometown that I used to know.

My parents best friend told us one time that he found out he had an Aunt that was murdered. He also knows two guys on death row that he used to work with years ago. One murdered someone over drugs. The other murdered his daughter and her lover when she told him she was a homosexual.

There was a user from the old CollegeWeb network (I think OSUWeb) named "poliscichick" who died in a car wreck about 7 years ago.

A guy I grew up with OD'd at a party one night. The owners of the house had already had run-ins with the law and were worried CPS would come take their kids from the home. So instead of calling an ambulance they basically waited for him to die/go unconscious and buried him in a shallow grave in a field across from our high school. I don't remember if autopsy said he was dead before they buried him. It was a pretty fucked up situation

A friend from high school died in a car wreck--single car veered off and hit a tree.
A distant cousin (also friend in high school) died in a car wreck--single car veered off and flipped in to a ditch (no seatbelt).

Friend from high school's father shot his mother in their driveway when they were in elementary school. Dentist. Pretty big trial in NC at the time.
And while I didn't know him personally, the bf of my friend's step sister was shot in the face by their step brother who then turned the gun on himself.

I think that's it. I hope that's it.

A friend from college passed last July on a bike ride with her dad, she hit the back of his tire on a hill and swerved into the road and hit by a truck.
Another friend from college was diagnosed with Lukemia, he passed away in February
Another third from college, all within a year, passed away in June summer when he drowned in a rock quarry in the western part of the state with some other friends of mine.
Another neighbor passed away from cancer as well in July, though that was not sudden... not to sound horrendously morbid, but we've been expecting her for years and most people said their goodbyes several months ago, but that was the fourth in a year, so it's there for good measure.
My freshman year roommate's father was murdered in a robbery of the convenience store he owned.

To my recollection, those are the only "sudden/unexpected deaths", not age or illness related.

I knew 1 person that was murdered back in 2002. Her name was Stephanie Bennett, it was all over the news for a while. She dated a good friend of mine and I worked with her sister. I even got called down to the police station to be "ruled out as a suspect", since I had been in her apartment on several occasions.

I also have "been intimate" with 2 girls that later died in car wrecks. Also my best friend since elementary school died of a drug overdose in 2000. I'm sure if I thought about it longer I could come up with several more people I have known that died in car crashes.
