I was staying with a good friend down in Atlanta at his house and roomed with him and his wife before his wife moved back to Texas and He and I got a loft apartment. I was also working for him during my stay. Things ended sour, which resulted in me calling the cops on him after he locked me out of the apartment at 2am.

My credit is perfect. I don't spend money I don't have, no student debt, no credit card debt, I own my own car, two motorcycles, photo/video equipment, tons of automotive and wood working tools and all of my computers/servers.

I've mostly bartered for everything in the past 3 years in lieu of not having a "real" job. The only money I made went to pay for gas, car and health insurance. Everything else was straight out trades. Work for things I want or need.

apparently you don't... I have money in the bank, no debt, credit cards paid off every month for the small things I buy, 10 year credit history to back it up... score is above 750. Check it every year.

everyone has had hard times, especially lately

I know several people who lost their job, then either couldn't get a job or ended up
taking a huge pay cut with the new job; this lead to the loss of their house or
apartment, and had to move back in with parents. yes it sucks, but just because
someone is in that situation doesn't mean they are a failure as a person

someone making light of it without knowing the facts, is just pathetic and reflects
their own failure as a person

"So you stole her husband and he kicked you out?"

The sad story is that his wife has Stage 4 breast cancer (this was the 2nd time she has gotten cancer in the past 4 years), it metastasized and spread to the lymph nodes and she only has 2 years to live. She moved back home to Texas to be with family; he stayed behind in Atlanta because that's where his real job is at; both are in debt to their eyeballs. He flew back to Texas every weekend and the plan was to room together in Atlanta for a year and then get a transfer with his company back to Texas. He made the offer to pay my way and living expenses to entice me to move in with him.

So, I moved down there solely to help him out since I know the struggles he was going through, as well as having the opportunity for him and I to work on photo projects a lot more frequent than once every 6-18 months to get his mind off of his dying wife. I've known him for about 8 years up until two weeks ago. His situation with his wife is terrible; couldn't happen to the nicest couple, but he's becoming very self-destructive and I apparently was the last best friend he had as he also yelled and destroyed other friendships the very same way.

He was nice 99.9% of the time, but when he got into his crazy bitch neurotic state, his mouth goes into a shit storm of shit that made no sense. The first time, I was silent and said nothing; the second time I warned him to not yell at me over stupid shit otherwise I'd leave and this last time he yelled at me over "dust" in the apartment. When I offered to clean it up right then and there, he kept on yelling at me.

So I followed through on my threat from two months prior. I wished him the best, packed up all of my shit and left Atlanta at 4 in the morning and drove all night to Raleigh. I technically didn't get "evicted" since my name wasn't on the lease and I left on my own accord, but it does kind of suck that he ended an 8 year long friendship over "dust in the apartment".

Anyhow, I have big plans for the near future.

- Working as a part time photo/film instructor at a school in Durham
- Currently working on two video projects in Durham (one is for NC Idea)
- Developing a state of the art LED light panels to be used in commercial and industrial applications, with a wide range of products and usage from interior to exterior consumer markets; partnering with an architectural and sustainable industrial consultant firm as well as Fairchild Semiconductor and possibly Cree and a few other engineering companies
- Building up three separate businesses (Multimedia company, CAD/product design, Custom LED Lighting)
- Partnering with The Escapist magazine in Durham for photo and video production, everything from product reviews to press interviews and digital shorts; Also covering their Expo in October
- Renovating my entire parents house; full kitchen, garage, bath, bedrooms, deck additions and full landscaping over the span of a year
- Plans to renovate two other houses in October and November
- Plans to renovate/expand a friend's gun store in November
- Shoot a "DIY/How to" series when doing renovations, partnering with local suppliers and contractors to get material free or heavily discounted
- Plan to use parents full kitchen as a studio for a cooking show next spring
- Plan a fun CGI/Machinemia series with friends in the gaming sector
- Plan to shoot a year long racing documentary for a Ronald McDonald House motorsport racing charity

And that's just the main stuff I've done or planned out since I've been back in the last two weeks. Just today, I became a preferred photographer for the Duke Gardens in Durham and have a portrait session Saturday. They said I'll be on a short list of whom they'll refer to when patrons ask for a local photographer/videographer for weddings and events. Plus, I'll be going out to Arizona for 3 weeks at the end of this month teaching photography out there, then jet over to Hawaii for another 2 weeks for vacation.

If the few of you think I'm a failure to society, because I moved back home with my parents for a short while... let me ask you what you are doing that is so much better?

probably the part where you were freeloading off a dude who is massively in debt because of his mortally ill wife - or maybe the part where you made the bitch move of calling the cops after he locked you out of his house.

"probably the part where you were freeloading off a dude who is massively in debt because of his mortally ill wife - or maybe the part where you made the bitch move of calling the cops after he locked you out of his house."

1. Was not freeloading... I was working for him. I was his photo assistant for many years and never charged him, plus I have every piece of studio equipment so when he wanted to do projects, it was with my own expensive gear, again not charging him rental fees. Every shoot we've done, I was lighting it and shooting it. He would just sit by and say "yah" or "nay" or not say a damn thing.

2. I helped him SAVED money the entire time I was there. I fixed his entire house out of my own pocket, repainted the interiors, installed new kitchen lights, repaired his rotten door (out of hand tools mind you) and fixed rotten wood around the door and window fixtures, plus sealed a lot of area's around the house that were leaking when it rained and other shit. Also gave him plans on a new drainage system for his backyard since it flooded every time it rained, that I was planning on installing myself later in the summer/early fall. Again saving him lots of money.

3. I cooked and cleaned for him the entire time I was there. I made his life easy. This is a dude that never cooked, neither his wife of 15 years, which was why she loved having me over. They went out to eat 3 times a day, spent shit loads of money on crappy, unhealthy fast food. Plus he has a heart condition and had a mild heart attack last year and didn't get the clue then to change his eating habits or lifestyles. So they'd spend around $60 a day for the two of them for shit food and I was able to feed all three of us for a week for the same amount with fresh fruits, veggies and gourmet dinners. He loved it so much and saving him a ton of money, that he told me to cook a lot more so he can bring them to his friends at work.

4. We were living in a loft apartment when I left. Not the house. He rented his house out to save money.

5. Before I called the cops, I actually got a state trooper friend, who lived two doors down from me, to act as a mediator to help diffuse the situation, but that didn't work so I started packing. I called the cops reluctantly because I was in the middle of moving my shit out to the car from 10pm-3am; he took my keys off of my key chain prior before I started moving shit and when I was in the hallway he locked the door and said "I'm going to bed". Most of my expensive gear and computer equipment were still inside the apartment. I threatened to call the cops, he responded with saying "Go ahead". Five mins later, local PD shows up and bangs on the door, waking up the entire complex. All I wanted to do was get my shit and get out. No drama.

6. I have a lawyer on retainer to sue/counter sue my ex-roommate if he starts up any legal action against me for fair usage of all of the photo's I've taken with him over the years as I never signed over my copyright to him or any contract as we had a gentleman's agreement that if we made any money from our projects that it would be a 50/50 split after expenses. He'd be the investor, I'll do all the work. Sad to say, any prospective gains from our projects will never see light of day or make any money and if he does restart the projects without my knowledge, I'll sue him.

Cree can't figure out how to put LEDs on a 6"x6" grid by themselves? I don't buy that.
