way too much scripting in this show (this is true for most of the shows in this genre). If they just showed them doing everyday stuff, I'd probably watch it more religiously. Instead they have to script in some dramatic event, for each one of the guys, in every single episode.
For instance, they are showing the guy in Montana hunting. That's cool, show us some of the countryside, let the guy bullshit about some old hunting stories, let him give us some common sense tips on how to have a successful hunt, tracking, etc.
Instead they script it as: its starting to get dark, his dog just ran away, and **gasp** he just heard a limb break somewhere in the woods, IS IT A BEAR, THE HORROR...../clip to commercial.

Check out "The Last American Man," its a pretty interesting biography of Eustace, dives into his ethics a lot. One of the most interesting things was how hard he can be to get along with. Lots of stories about people that came to his land to apprentice and end up leaving early because he is such a "my way or the highway" type person.8/23/2013 12:01:44 PM |
