Impressive season premiere episodes tonight. Cristin Milioti is awesome as the mother and had excellent scenes. I wrote last season I hoped they didn't do the "24" style. Now I'm taking it back.

pretty funny (especially "Thank you Linus!") but I'm concerned how they will keep it up over 22 more episodes

also Ted possibly ruining Barney and Robin's wedding is going to be too painful to watch

but they showed a flash forward of him at the reception, so I'm assuming they go through with it? would be kind of weird to have a reception if the couple didn't get married

love what they're doing with the mother.

i expect a lot of flashbacks to 'near misses' with the group, and flash forwards to her and ted together.

excited for the home stretch of this show.

I, too, was pleasantly surprised with the start of the season. My only complaint is keeping Marshall from the group. If the entire season is the wedding, that means it'll probably go on for another 4-5 episodes too.

That wouldn't even make a top 25 list of weird things on this show.

It seems like that - since it's implied they meet at the wedding and it won't happen until the end...'and that's how I met your mother'

Did anyone else expect the mother to be hotter?

Nah, she is very fitting for Ted.

Cute. Intelligent. Funny. Nerdy.

I really like her in that role. I think she fits, much more than Zooey or the other chick from Scrubs.

And of course they get married...they have said numerous times that they actually get married...whether its at that wedding or not thats a different story.

Yep, I'm sure that's how it'll end.

"And that's how Lily met your mother" in the first episode. I'm sure they'll run through the entire group that way.

I feel like you guys all watched 2 different episodes than me. I found it a chore to watch this hour of TV and all of my friends that watch this show agreed.

I am a fan of Ted's future wife, though feel like he's too much of an effeminate douche to deserve her.

the first two episodes were good and funny.

This one was more of the whiny pouty ted that I hate seeing and watching.

Anyone else find it bullshit that they spent all this time building up the intro of the mother and then they just show her in commercials leading up to the premiere?

^^She was in last season's finale (albeit briefly), so I consider her character fair game for any and all adverts this season.

I am getting annoyed with the bad fake-crying, though. Like the previews for next week looked horrific with the Barney and Ted scenes.

I actually liked this past episode. I haven't been much excited about watching this show any longer but I'm sticking around to see the end & for Barney.

^I did too. The engagement ring thing didn't really interest me but I thought the back and forth between Ted and Marshall about the wedding gift/thank you note was funny.

Agree...the thank you note/present thing reverted back to some of the first episodes style writing.

The ring thing sucked.

Where the hell is the Mother?

Seems like these episodes are just filler. I liked her being in the storyline...gave us something new to learn.

I've decided to only watch this season in bunches, 3-4 episodes at a time. I can't handle a weekly dose of depression.

i think 20 episodes of this crap is too much. i would have rather they didn't show us the mother until right after xmas and then do this wedding crap between then and may.

That was the dinkiest little lighthouse ever.

Best moment was Clint saying, "And I'm NOT going back to coaching the Browns!!"

Eh, I wasn't really a fan of last night's episode. The Robin/Barney arc was OK, but the rest wasn't really up to par.

Clint was by far the most annoying thing in that episode. Other than being a catalyst for Marshall finally losing it, he just felt like a forced addition (hey, remember this character!). We get it, you contractually have to give some of these recurring characters screen-time. Maybe plan something less annoying (annoying != funny).

And Ted with the current bimbo . . . ugh. Do the writers not realize that its OK to get rid of secondary characters without making them completely hate-able? She hates all music. She believes children shouldn't have toys. Try to at least make the character unlikable in a way that is believable. It felt a lot like how they drastically changed Robin's last boyfriend into being a complete sissy to get rid of him. Its just lazy writing.

I'm not okay with their choice of music for Ted's proposal. Nothing about this show, these characters, or their lives warrants Otis Redding.

^Easily the best part of the episode. Being that this is the last season, I really thought they would be going nuts with their recurring jokes, but those have been mostly absent.

Well they have to know that the slap bet is their most popular returning joke so they will probably save that for the middle of the worst episode.

Also we need an intervention, a shot of them eating sub sandwiches instead of smoking weed, Barney laughing to himself and saying "...please" when someone asks him about his job.

What is Barney's job? They're all living their professional dreams, right? Like...judge, art buyer, news anchor, NYC architect? Robin as news anchor is the only one who's even remotely believable.

They haven't revealed what his job is -- he works at that bank that Marshall used to work at but every time someone asks him what his actual job is he just laughs and says "..please"

This season has been pretty awful thus far, all of these characters are just caricatures and completely over the top now. They used to be relatable and kinda cool but quirky but now they're all insufferable.

Also, Lilly looks awful this season. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact that she's spent 90% of this season with her angry face and scrunched, thin lips.

Laughed quite a bit at this week's episode. The Zabka-tage part was pretty funny. Although I may just be biased because I love the Beastie Boys song.

Yeah, that really felt like one of the worst episodes of the entire series. It was like the script was written by someone who read a synopsis of the characters but never actually saw an episode before. It was a shame, too. There was a lot of promise with the Dad competition.

This show is painful to watch.

Hurry up and show the wedding...or at least show the Mom, she's the only interesting character to me at this point.
