remotely funny?

I'm a humorous guy. I'm usually laughing at everything in real life and always full of jokes and easy to laugh. I like comedy and laugh at most comedy movies but I can sit through this whole movie without even a smirk.

When I was young, I thought it was possibly because I hadn't been exposed to the same background as my friends and that was why i didn't find it funny but now that I am older, and find more of this type of humor funny, am more educated and have a different perspective, I can watch the whole thing and just thing its dumb.

Not one laugh.

Anyone else feel this way about monty python and the holy grail?

Holy Grail is meh. Try Life of Brian or The Meaning of Life and if you don't laugh you might be dead or never existed at all. Try pinching yourself. Do you generally not like dry humor? One of these things may be causing your problem.

^+1

The holy grail isnt something I want to watch every couple of months but for what it is and when it was made (plus being the first real film made by the group), it's one of the old classics I enjoyed as a kid. I'm a little embarrassed and amused at the same time when some of my old teachers , and co-workers now, knew the inside joke on some of the one-liners they used to pull in class from the Python movies.

Brings up a good chicken and the egg style question I've never had an answer for but seems it depends on which side of the fence you're usually on: Do you have a great sense of humor or a horrible one for laughing at the stupid, dry, or cheesy jokes?

jokes aren't funny and games aren't fun. the downfall of humanity started when people started thinking. You know what happens when people start thinking, then they start getting ideas. Well you know what happens when people get ideas, and here we are.

Holy Grails was hilarious when I was 12. Meaning of Life is still funny to me. Flying Circus is like SNL but with english accents and more crossdressing.

Also Terry Gilliam is a genius.

Are you talking about movies or comedy in general? I urge everyone in this thread to check out the IT Crowd, if you don't find that show funny you have no soul.

Comedy is by far my favorite genre but I also do not find Monty Python funny for some reason. BUT I love the IT Crowd. That show is fantastic.

there are some definite LOLs in the holy grail movie, but i've never thought it was as funny as people make it out to be. it's also way overquoted. haven't seen much else from monty python.

you should find something Monty Python funny

doesn't have to be Holy Grail, necessarily

I always liked Meaning of Life just as well, plus a lot of their Flying Circus skits are better than the longer movies

i think the brand of monty python humor is lost on today's mainstream audience. (that is not a :snort: i'm more refined than you... just an observation.)
