Didn't see a dedicated Sonos thread in search so I figured I'd make a thread.

Anyone running their TV audio through a Sonos Amp or Connect? Any sound quality issues or delays?

I just bought two of the new Play1s and they are fantastic. Sonos is offering a free bridge with any Play speaker right now also.

I wasn't aware you could run tv audio through it...what about from an apple tv?

Apparently, you have to run the Sonos Connect through your Zone 2 in order to achieve this. However I haven't tried it yet.

I did exactly this. Purchased the Connect, hooked up zone 2 to the audio-in ports and bam.

I got a Play1 for Christmas and went out and got a Play5 shortly afterwards. Really liking them. I'd fill the house with Sonos if I could afford it. That's pretty much my only complaint...the price.

Have you tried your Play1s in stereo? I want to get another eventually and can't decide between 2 Play1s or a Play5.

That's everyone's complaint. However their system/speakers/app are so well built that it somewhat justifies the cost (but not really). That being said, I have two PLAY1s and love them. The PLAY5 should have a line-in port so you could hook that up to the sterero. The PLAY1 does not. You have to use a Sonos CONNECT for this purpose which is what I've done. I've plugged it into the Zone 2 ports on my receiver and I can now hear anything on my stereo on the PLAY1s.

Yeah, as long as they keep updating the ecosystem, it's worth it to me. I really hope they add a 'cast to Sonos' feature. The Sonos app does well enough, but I'd much rather use the individual music service apps.

I messed with the line in on the Play5 the other day. It works great for music, but there was a slight delay when watching video.

Try changing the Audio Compression to "Compressed," which is done in the advanced settings of the controller.

Also, if you are using a receiver to supply the line-in, try setting the receiver to "DIRECT" mode.

^Thanks! (2 months later). That helped. It was still of a little bit, but much more usable. I guess the playbar is the best solution there. I just cant justify that, especially if they aren't going to support DTS.

I just bought 2 more Play1s, though.

Fuck compression. Scourge of modern music listening, or at least one of them.

Get faster internet if that's what you need. Don't fuck up your music to fit your internet...make your internet do what you need it to do.
