If that's the case and they are reporting the ride started with people not strapped in then I don't understand why they wouldn't have just jumped off the ride. It starts very slow. My ass would have immediately just jumped off to show the guy running it hey asshole I wasn't strapped in!

Wake Med is a level ONE trauma center. Rex is probably a level 3. Trauma is not Rex's forte.

If wake could not handle all five traumas.....Duke or UNC would be a back up. They could be airlifted from the helipad at Wake.

on second thought....there is weather in the durham chapel hill area.... so no one is flying tonight. In that case they could be driven to duke or unc after being stabilized somewhat at wake.

Sounds like this is what might have happened. And the one hurt worst was too scared to jump, couldn't hang on.

Definitely negligence. How do you even turn a ride on before checking everybody is tied in? That's fucked up. And then when people somehow expressed a desire to get off, telling them to hang on?

Don't rides like that also have this metal brace/cage restraint that comes down the shoulders until the midsection, aside from the belt? I guess if you are not tied in, you could fall out from the middle gap of that metal restraint.

I'm not familiar with this particular ride, but I'm sure they have a similar device, but I'm also guessing that they started the ride before devices like this were engaged.

According to wral one of the injured people was the operator. And the ride started automatically. That may be why the e-stop didn't get pressed. But I would have thought there would be 2 operators or someone in thelinethatwould think to press the big red button.

I thought rides like that couldn't be engaged if the safety harnesses weren't in a locked position.
