Redneck and white trash are not the same thing. I consider my step dad's family redneck. He raises bird dogs, one step sister's husband is a prison guard and the other is carpenter and they are both avid hunters as are their sons and sometimes the daughter. My step dad owns a landscaping business and has like 5 different pickups but they all run. He is not very cultured and honestly not too tolerant but he doesn't make a fool of himself or push his views on others. Their lifestyle is very different than mine but it isn't what I would call trashy. They aren't illiterate drunks and they don't have a bunch of different baby daddies and they don't date their cousins. One step sister is a teacher and the other works in government. Huge difference between redneck and white trash. You can be one without being the other, but you can also be both.
