I hear it at work all the time (I'm over in eastern NC) and I also heard people in the mountains and central NC saying it, so it's spreading

and the people that use it tend to repeat it and not even notice they're doing it =3

I say it when people ask a question when I've already answered it. Perhaps if people opened their minds and listened with the intent to understand what I'm saying versus listening with the the intent to respond, they wouldn't have to ask a question to which I reply, "Like I've said/previously mentioned..." If you happened to miss it the first time, I'll throw you a bone and give you the benefit of the doubt. I have an issue with the communication failure when I have to repeae myself 3 times or more.

sometimes it's appropriate

for example, one time my friends and I were hanging out drinking beer or something, and I mentioned that I'd told my boss to suck my dick, but still had my job

And a few minutes later, one guy says "So Jeff, the guys you work with, they're pretty much all douchebags, right?"

"Yeah. Like I said, I told my boss to suck my dick, and I still have my job."

sometimes it's a legitimate, substantial thing to say. it can be significant and it doesn't have to be condescending.

I generally just repeat myself--no problem. If the communication issue rises to the level that it needs to be acknowledged, then I acknowledge it with a whole lot more than some bratty "like I said" business.
