Being a teenager somehow elevates a person above assaulting a officer of the law as well as innocent bystanders with a vehicle? All they know is that they've got a driver who has repeatedly demonstrated that he is a threat to the public and the officers. Their actions are completely justified.

I'm no fan of the police by any stretch of the imagination, but in this case it actually appears they acted appropriately given the way this guy had been driving and intentionally using the truck as a weapon.

More may come out that could change my mind, but this looks like it may have been a good shooting.

^^ A lot of people do really really stupid things that could/should get them killed/arrested, but sometimes that is because they are not mature enough to understand the impact of what they do. That being said, I am not defending the teenager, it's just sad it ended with him dying

I wasn't there and will never truly know the entirety of the situation. I believe the cop was justified, and it is sad for everyone that it ended that way. It also makes me sad for the officer, I am not sure if he has killed a person before, but it must be hard to know you killed someone, especially someone's kid.

If it is you or this kid ramming you with a truck and threatening people's lives, the choice is obvious, it is still sad.

The cops could have made attempts to de-escalate the situation, but with the ever increasing militarization of police, they're just looking for an excuse to shoot.

they could have called it off well before that point, especially with the knowledge that it is an easily identifiable vehicle that belongs to the drivers father. there was no need for it to ever even make it onto that campus.

they know why the driver is, they know what the vehicle looks like, they know who owns the vehicle... so you back off and stop the pursuit very early.

Yes, kids have a hard time with consequences, hence why they are kids.

Cops were definitely wrong in this situation. It shouldn't have been handled the way it was from the beginning.

The kids and his family sound like a bunch of dumb hill billies, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up dead one way or another.
