You guys remember this thing, right? Spend at least $10 at a registered "local" merchant this Saturday and receive a $10 credit on your next statement.

$15 less than last year.
Last year I bought my girlfriends Christmas present on small business Saturday to save a little bit of money. At $10 I'm not going to make a specific trip.
Can you register two amex cards? Maybe I'll do that. 11/25/2013 8:40:37 PM |

The local people employed at Target and Home Depot were thankful I shopped at their store yesterday.
Also, I know this isn't TSB, but below is a link to an article a friend of mine at FEE wrote last year on the topic:

Not if people don't shop there.

No, but individual locations might cut hours or employ fewer people.
Large national and multinational retailers have huge impacts on local economies, I don't know why people have such a hard time understanding that.11/30/2013 5:40:07 PM |

because the statement was "they were happy because I shopped there yesterday"
a local Target or Home Depot would not lay people off if one person chose not to shop there on one day of the year 11/30/2013 6:33:33 PM |

Yes, and one day buying something at a "mom and pop" will save them from bankruptcy. 11/30/2013 11:44:23 PM |

Both Home Depot and Target are spending $5+billion on stock buybacks this year, I think they are going to be ok. 12/1/2013 10:10:36 AM |
